    Accidents in Thailand

Now this aint a thread about all the broken condoms you have had while shagging some skanky 300baht whore, this is a serious thread about what could happen to members like mrs q and that, but not going into the topic of broken condoms that he has probably had.

Anyway yesterday afternoon I heard this real loud crash, I knew this was a car accident
obviously I did panic, I mean my nice shiny red car was parked outside and some cnut could have crashed into it, I have to admit I rushed to the window to check, hell you cant blame me I was worried, but luckily it was just some tourist that had crashed into a lorry.
Well I have to admit he was not a very happy soldier, the lorry was driving in the inside lane while he was driving his nice shiny 400cc beasty in the fast lane, alas the lorry decided he wanted to go right, the nice looking bike then proceeded to impact the lorry around it's front wheel area at reasonable speed, ok so he was quite well injured but no where near enough to join my dead farang thread, unusually the lorry driver stopped straight away,
Unforuneately the lorry driver was Thai, so he jumped out of his cab and didn't bother putting the handbrake on, yes the lorry ran over his nice shiny motorbike, anyway as you can see the ambulance turned up pretty quickly and also the police, I assume now that this nice tourist is the proud owner of a squashed bike

Now I am not sure if this should go in the food thread or not, anyway on our drive back from rayong this evening I nearly wiped out some 14 year old gal with a thai lad of about 6 on their motorbike, completely clear road with me doing about 120kn, this dumb bitch then decided to cross the road, I really dont like this abs braking as I like skidding, but that aside this dumb **** then decided to stop side on in my lane as she just panicked, in the end I had to go round her in the oncoming lane at about 80km per hour, anyway I was discussing with my galfriend about how thais lack in the driving skills department, I believe my words were they are all moronic cnuts or something along those lines, then 2kms down the road we came across this.

Now that I thought was foking funny, how it happened I have no idea but it cheered me up no end, anyway here she is saving her food so she can still sell it this evening

After this I got onto the old rayong to Pattaya highway, now this road is good and speeds of 200km are easily achievable, alas I didn't get the picture of the motorbike driver who was knocked off in the middle of the road due to me going so fast, but it looked like he was trying to cross the road, got run over and as per usual the offender fled the scene, anyway I think he only had a broken leg so it weren't too bad, well it's better than being dead which he would have been if I hit him at 200km

Well here is anpther accident from this morning, not sure if there was a car involved or not, but these people don't look very happy, it never ceases to amaze me how they will quite happily leave their motorbikes laying in the middle of the road after an accident.

I just remember the accident I witnessed last year in Pattaya. We were sitting in this cheap restaurant at the road behind Big C (is that third road or another road between 3rd and 2nd?) when we heard I loud crash. When I went outside to have a look I saw a young women standing beside a pick up which had lost the window glass she had as cargo.
My forst thought was, it may be one of your workers.
A stupid accident, not having secured the cargo well enough.

I just loved the "ambulance" in the first picture. Nothing like a pick up truck and a couple of body snatchers to take you somewhere.

When I was but a callow youth I worked for a while as a truck driver - the older dirvers, of course, regaled us youngsters of stories of the old days before such things as tachographs and when you could access the engine by lifting a cover in the cab so that you could wedge a stick into the engine governor and put your feet up on the dashboard.

One old hand described seeing the white line rising up the side of the truck window - of course he was really keeling over at the wheel.

Anyway, here's a chap who didn't wake up in time.

    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

this pic with the wheels in the air reminds me of an incident i saw about 2 weeks back alas i ddint have my camera with me!

but it was outside a construction site

one of these blue flat tray lorry things

one of those big front/back end loaders on catepillar wheels.

front end loader was going up onto the back of the truck

the weight of it caused the lorry to lift the front wheels completely up into the air - about 4-5 metres up. the driver was still in teh cab!

    he didtn seem fazed.

took abt 15 mins to inch the frontend loader up the back of the truck all the while hte front end swayed and moved around and slowly lowerd back to earth as they setteldthe load on the back of it!

Amazing thailadn - in the middle of this a police man rocked up -

got his money - kept going!

A six wheeler is about 9 tons, depending on the weight of the lorry, obvioulsy it helps it you dont put it all in the same place

But we all know that all trucks run overloaded in Thailand. Often as much as 5 tons overweight.

Depends on the truck, we used to run ours about 2 ton over, and just drop an envelope into the police station on our route every month. 5 ton over on a 6 wheeler and you would just be blowing tyre all the time, not really worth it.

10 wheelers are about 15 ton I think, my borther-in-law runs his a bit over but not much as its just too costly in wear and tear.

A lot of the loads you see here are'nt actually overweight, it's just how they are loaded thats the problem, wrong place, to tall ect Hay is a good example, it virtually imposible to overload weight wise with hay, but you still get people trying to get to the limit by just going taller/wider (both also ilegal)
I have more than the average number of arm and legs

I don't know how much these trucks weigh. But out by the BIRA race track, there are trucks loading up with dirt and going down Siam Country Club road. I drive down this road 3 times a week when I go to Aikido.

There is a section after the SCC lake and where the road comes out near Lake Map Pra Chan. It's getting REALLY bad.

They tossed in some dirt a few weeks back. But last night, it reminded me of the old Phnom Penh-Siam Reap road. You've gotta come to a crawl to negotiate the pot holes, even with my VIGO. (OK, I could drive it like I want to, but the wife complains, and you know how it is when she's got the pussy....)

The asphalt is giving way, big time, in some places. I think it's the daytime heat and the weight of the trucks. Last night there was a hole about 2' deep and full of water, so not easy to see if you're speeding. It's changing daily...

Many other parts of Siam Country Club road are in pretty shit condition. But this one is the worst that I've seen.

Seen many accidents here in LOS but the best one I ever saw was a big lorry that was transporting pigs that had overturned at high speed. There were dead pigs all over the highway 9both lanes) and Thai passers-bye were picking them up and thowing htem in the back of their pick ups. The lorry crew were still in and out of the cab but not moving. The Thais didn't care...they couldn't believe their good luck!
