You're right keda. There is no Good Samaritan clause in Thailand. If you stop and administer first aid and the guy dies later on, the family can claim that it was the fault of the person who gave first aid.
I know some farang paramedics who work in the hospitals. They never stop at the scene of accidents and help out, for this very reason.
It's a tragic situation, but, it's just not worth the risk.

The first rule of a firstaider is "Don't put yourself in danger".

I guess the same applies to the aftermath of brawls and other incidents leaving people in need of medical assistance.

    ^ Death is cheaper apparently

interesting info about helping victims here

I do remember some similar scandals in the US in the late 80s, where helping someone was putting you in a liability position

    accident

    Worst accident I came upon:

Lampang: Came up after the clean-up but noticed a pick-up sans roof and a brain on the ground...hadn't seen that before.

    Accident in:

Cop motioned to stop traffic for U-turn, obeyed, struck from behind by over-crowded truck with poor brakes on slick a.m. roads. Ltd. damage, cop was p.o. at the driver.

    accident 2

Driving in BKK when a motorcycle fishtailed and rider and side-saddle passenger crashed. Parked my car sideways on one way to stop traffic b/c no one moved to help.

Guy got up to help his motorcycle up and allowed his passenger to lay on her backside. Both were fine, but bystanders seemed angrier at those of us that helped that anything else.

This actually happens in the philipines..so drivers don't have to pay medical or insurance costs.

    Building accidents

This is what 5 million baht in a muddy hole looks like, they are widening the road from Pattaya to Jomtien and a fine mess they are making of it, South Pattaya seems to have been left dug up for the last couple of years and they just keep digging up new bits, anyway little did he know there was drainage pipes under near where he was digging.

    Yep, thats well in there

Trying to drag it out with another digger weren't such a good idea and they nearly took down all the mains electric.

Keep digging boys, all your gaining is some nice exercise

Not sure if they're trying to dig it out or in to bury the evidence.

Anyway with the help of a crane and a load of bystanders they got the cat out of the muddy hole.

And isn't it odd how the badly injured or dead, seldom have anything of value or money in their pockets when they arrive........Mmmmmmm

Blood from her head/face, didn't move much and prolly in shock, not a clue about moron's passenger who was also laid out flat, but moron was back at work when I passed by again later that afternoon.
Happens all the time in Pattaya.....What's wrong with the kids here?
Do they actually WANT to die? Stupid gits.

Apparently, one motorcyclist dies every 40 mins in LOS!

My ex told me once that her, almost always, drunken Brother has killed motorcyclists, with his old pick-up truck on four occasions, and not once did he stop!

    The mind boggles.......

Well todays accident I think was quite a nasty one, this was on my way back from Naklua, now I am going to take a wild guess here and reckon on the person/s that are responsible just drove off as per norm, this is because the people looking after them look quite concerned and worried, also there were no dents in their cars, got to admit they looked a bit dead to me, the joys of riding a motorbike in Thailand........

Getting one of the guys onto the stretcher thingy.

    One severely injured motorbike.

Shading the injured or dead or herself?

The other guy about to be loaded onto a stretcher.

    Another dead Thai or not?

Not sure whether this guy lived or died, anyway seems he crashed into another bike pulling onto Soi Theprasit, he must have been on his way to Jomtien, he was laying on his side in the road but I think one of them decided to help him into his next life so rolled him onto his back I mean I think it's great if you try to help someone and all that, but it really aint a good idea to put unconcious people onto their backs, perhaps he was dead already so it didn't really make much difference.

The bike don't look too badly damaged.

Have a quick look to see if he is dead or alive.

Seems the taxi driver got bored of warning the oncoming traffic about the guy lieing in the road.

    The police arrive

The first policeman arrived within a couple of minutes, being a highly trained professional, he parked up his bike, calmly got something out of his bag, and then calmly strode over to one of the fallen motorbikes to spray paint where it had fallen, the guy was still laying in the road, another policeman slowly drove past and looked at the fallen and injured, I wonder what he was thinking as he just drove slowly off into the distance, the original policeman then spray painted round the other fallen bike so the bikes could be cleared out of the road, all this time the main injured or dead guy has been ignored, funny old place Thailand isn't it

That's amazing. Did they determine he was dead first and that's why nobody was attending to him, or are they that bad?

I'll never regret my decision to give up riding bikes in Thailand, as much as I loved riding.

Did you take that video DD, or someone send it in?

It's rare I visit thailand without seing an accident. The worst was a police car hitting a motorcyclist on Thappraya Road at aroung 80-90kph - the boys in brown "fled the scene" - i guess calling the cops wasn't gonna solve this particular crime. The motorcylist didn't land particularly well. Don't know if he survived.

My partner and myself had a head on collision with a police car in Phuket because the foking taxi we were in decided to overtake a truck in the rain.

Lucky we weren't killed, I always take the train or fly when I'm in Asia as the roads terrify me and the thought of being trapped in a car wreck freaks me out.

I do this work at home and we have the best road rescue vehicle available.

We will be on the scene in 7 minutes or under but in Asia you are foked if your trapped in a car.

Fok that matey's and its all yours.

You are much safer taking a Song Taew (sp?) than driving yourself.

Well unless the Song taew driver doesn't notice that bloody great crane jib sticking out that is.

    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

Was driving out of Pattaya on Thursday am, sitting beside a old red pickup at the lights and hear a loud smash. Some old white haired Farang had run his nice shiny BMW X5 into the rear of the pickup full of issarn workers, I bet he had to pay off for a few whiplash injuries.

On the way to Nong Khai this lorry driver must have fallen asleep, this was somewhere between Korat and Udon Thani.
