Well this happened coming back from Chang Mai yesterday about 100kms North of Bangkok, I really hope there were no passengers in the back of the pick up as the whole thing was destroyed, the amount of police etc that were there I assume there must have been a few dead.

I often see total fuckwits racing by. Some of my students parents drive like ****s everywhere. I pray so hard that I turn the next corner to see them wrapped around a wall. Never happens though.

You're such a thouroughly nice person Squirrel.

Obviously the deity you're praying to takes as little notice of you as we do!

That is a rescue vehicle, one they stick dead bodies in, the truck was being towed out of the verge when I got there so they probably had collected all the dead already.

I think the rescue pick-up needs to be rescued from those Thai rescue workers.

That's ok. I pray everyday that you catch some sort of STD that makes you piss fire for a month before making you sterile.

    Nice aren't I

Don't you know that police cars in Thailand are shit coloured (or brown) and have just red lights, not red and blue?

I thought you were already in LOS Mad D.

If you are serious (and even if you are not) here's a link to a web site set up by 3 Irish lads who have made that journey a couple of years ago.

    http://www.dublintosydney.com/NewWebSite/menu.htm

Does anybody know what happened to the guy who was planning to drive a tuk tuk back to Belgium?
    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

I thought it was a couple of girls (but I could be wrong). I think they set off about a month ago, so they're probably tied up in some cave in Afghanistan by now.

    Tuk to the Road
Welcome to Tuk to the Road, the biggest thing on 3 wheels in 2006, in fact, of all time. The aim of the mission is to drive a Thai tuk tuk from Bangkok to Brighton overland, and raise £50, 000 for the mental health charity Mind. Many have called us crazy, but with your help we will not only succeed, but in doing so will raise both funds and awareness for a great cause.
Please have a wallow in our site; find out who we are, why we are taking on such a challenge and how you can support us.
Every pound and penny we raise goes directly to Mind, so your donations are what will make this mission worthwhile. Our online donations are handled by Just Giving and are totally secure.
Thanks for your support - we really appreciate it. Without you it couldn't happen..

80 klm per hour in a tuk tuk - maybe in perfect weather conditions on a straight test track - but on your average piece of tarmac in asia they would be lucky to be doing 40.

    their optimism is not infectious.

^ Hmm. I had a look at their log and have to agree ....

[Quote] Its hard to describe how bad the roads are in Yunnan. They make Laos’ Rte 13 seem like the M25. Not only that but we have had to fight with literally hundreds of vast construction lorries, all of us after the narrow sliver of passable road on each stretch. [end quote]

Seems they had calculated on using the new expressways but did not realise that 3 wheelers are not allowed on them.
