A bit weirded out that some old bloke spends enough to much time thinking that posting the same pic of a dog that you think looks like me is just serious dementia . It's the one where the owner dies at work and his dog waits for him on the train station platform for something like 9 years, people feed him etc and after dying of old age they build a statue of him?

Richard Gere...now, there's someone who has never played 'fetch' with a dog unless there was money in it.

^^yes, that's the one. The food sellers at the train station fed it & kept it alive since it didn't want to leave the station. When it died, they built a statue of it at the train station. Many people now take selfies with the dog's statue.

It's sad when the dog/ pet doesn't have closure re: their owner's death. In the news here in PH (trivia/ human interest stories), they showed a dog which kept guard at the wake/ viewing of its deceased owner, who was an elderly woman. (It's common here to have the viewing at the deceased person's house, esp if family is poor, prior to burial or cremation). The family had these plastic monoblock chairs near the coffin. The dog sat on the chair for most of the time, and looked towards the coffin. When it was on the chair, it could view its owner from that angle. It was both a sad and "aww shucks" moment. The dog has been adopted by family members (a niece of the deceased, I think). Dogs truly are very loyal.

^thanks for the pics, misskit. If I were to travel to Tokyo, I'd go to that station just to take a selfie with that statue. Sometimes, I don't watch dog movies because they just make me cry. I cried when I watched the movie "Eight Below". (dang it!)

Eight Below is a movie about 8 huskies who were left in Antarctica to survive the winter. The rescuers could only return to the site in spring or summer and 1 or 2 dogs didn't survive, but most did and were airlifted to safety.
