Thought this afternoons jog was harder than normal and I was being sensible and did it on a treadmill indoors!!!
What does this AQI feel like? Scratchy throat and a mild but persistent cough with slight irritation of the eyes.

I don't suppose those readings change much over the years. Did you not check this prior to moving there?

...I have a mildly persistent cough and constant throat clearing...the ENT specialist said I had post nasal drip aggravated by bkk pollution...he recommended I take an antihistamine on days that I exercise...currently I'm on Telfast (Sanofi) and it's very effective...

Along with many who now live in Thailand. Myself included.

Looking back all my "holiday visits", they were mostly during the October to June period. They were also either Bangkok, the Eastern islands or Northern Thailand.

I was somewhat surprised to be told when enquiring about when the the rainy season ended, during the first June of my permanent stay, "Oh the end of October or maybe November." I also looked at the annual rainfall map for my area afterwards to find out it has the most rain in Thailand.

Unexpected then, but now a time to recuperate and plan. We all live, learn and adjust, however old we get.

Work wise, kids are much better behaved with a firm but fair set of rules and consistency following them. Even been able to do group work and TPR stuff without a wrestling match or obnoxious HiSo screaming match breaking out from the little minions.

Heating should be on tomorrow, which I am super happy about!

Might attempt to go hiking this weekend- there is apparently a well marked path up into the hills surrounding UB.

^good luck, Mandy. Take pics of your hike, pls.

Re: AQI in UB, I was curious and found out that Mongolia is in the top 5 re: air pollution, accdg to Numbeo. Do you have the N95 mask or the laboratory goggles (with side shield)? If not, maybe you could buy them. You may look like a dork but your eyes & lungs will be protected.

(Was walking the other day and a truck passed by and scattered dust all over the road. My eyes stung since I don't wear glasses. You have my commiserations.)

^ Apparently the heavy duty masks will be on sale soon, I will be the first in line for one.
Off to S.Korea next weekend for a PD course and a bit of R&R, never been and should be meeting up with an old friend for beers one evening.

^If going to Seoul, visit Gangnam district. Lots of ppl there on a weekend, great for ppl watching. Lots of pretty girls & boys, though I don't know if they've gone under the knife, since plastic surgery is a big thing there. There are nice palaces too, if you want some culture. If you time your visit correctly, you can join the free English language tour (I was able to join one - entered the palace at the right time) or see the changing of the guards. Name of palaces were Changdokgung or Gyombokgung (or similar). Long names so I've forgotten them. Easy access from MRT. Went to 2 palaces on different days. The other one (Gyombokgung) has a nearby cultural museum - I went to that too. Very interesting. Some of the exhibits explain why the Koreans dislike/hate the Japanese.

Do you know Bettyboo? I think he still lives/works in Korea, but not in Seoul. Cheers & bon voyage!

Today I got up to the top of Mt. Bogd Khan- an easy steady paced hike up until the last 100 meters or so.
    Met this friendly camel

An easy start, the path is clearly marked at it was so crowded it would be hard to get lost

Ice on the ground already, people say this is going to be a cold winter

The mountain is covered in dense pine forests that reminded me of Germany

Almost everybody stopped at this picnic spot and didn't go further

    Went deeper into the forest....

After a while a large rock formation rose from the ground, so scrambled to the top for a better view

They don't call it "The land under the eternal blue sky" for nothing.

Since the fall of socialism Buddism has been growing, saw quite a few little shrines that reminded me of Myanmar slightly
