He went to pretty much the most touristy place he could- the sheep head does come recommended by a local I met today. My beefy noodles cost about 2USD for a large portion.

Rainy day here but those hills are begging to be climbed up!
The quality and price of supermarkets is a pleasant surprise- easy to cook western food and there are even some convenience food that can be thrown in the oven. Beef is cheap- about 5USD per kilo. lamb comes in at a similar price. Chicken is expensive, given the winters it is not surprising. Lots of German and Russian foods here, too. Fruit is western priced- it has to be imported but root veggies are cheap as chips.
View from the office is pretty special

Looks like mash in addition to the rice.

Had to go on a teachers "retreat" this Saturday after the school opening ceremony; there are a lot of Soviet influences that still live on here, in this case ALL schools in Mongolia open on September 1st. As I work at an international school it is all for show, no classes or anything like that. That fun starts tomorrow and I am genuinely looking forward to getting back to work.

Spent the weekend here. it was very peaceful pre-vodka

Thought we would be in gers, turns out the resort was pretty fancy.
Mongolians do not mess about when it comes to vodka- I wouldn't recommend you try to match their impressive drinking speed. As for the local vodka, better and smoother than Russian vodka but I'm still not a fan of the stuff. Give me beer anyday!
