    Koh Samui
Here are some pics from the last 2 months, I got back to Mongolia today- happy to be back, but had a blast on the road.
Started in Blighty with a nice drink to make me less depressed about Brexshit, it was moderately effective

To be fair it was nice and green

Got fed up of England and buggered off to Holland for a few days- took the recently retired parents along for the ride
    I like boats

    and alcohol

    more boats

Back in England I visited my fave beach, Sea Palling

Hopped on a plane to KL- Condor Business Class is passable but nothing special
The Ibis has a cracking pool for a low price

Loved the food, reason enough to come back

Yeah, apes need soft drinks ya cvnts

Went back to Mandalay for a visit and good food poisoned for my troubles

    Went to the Big Mango

Slowly turned myself gammon red by the pool

Found a lost and confused sexpat back in BKK

Enjoyed some lobster, that's something that is near impossible to get here

    flew home

Coming to the conclusion Mongolia may be home for longer than this contract

Annies is long gone, it is now a very decent tex-mex restaurant with quite possibly one of the best tequila and salsa selections in the city. The reason I was there was staying it the Lohas Residence as the rooms come with washing machines. Was about 40USD a night through booking.com and they upgraded me to a one room apartment.

Is the Tex Mex place you mentioned called "The Mexican"? A fantastic choice of Tequila especially if you have only drank the cheap shit in Thailand. Excellent owners and excellent food in there..great place to spend an afternoon...

But I will let you into a little secret that I have that brings your China story together...Whilst in "The Mexican " were you served by a tall American looking lad that said he was Mexican???? Well I almost spat my drink out when I saw him because he was the spits of an American "Permie" boss when I was a contractor in China in the early 90's....He fancied a Mexican aide to the American Ambassador and so did I....I once took her for lunch at the "new" Hard Rock cafe .....When he found out he basically threatened to end my contract....and there he was serving me tequila in a Mexican restaurant in Bangkok...Exactly like him!!

Actually asa Soi I have a lot of time for it, near to the fun but also quiet, with the added bonus of good restaurants on Soi 3 being close.

Sun during the day and cooling rains at night seem to be a feature of Mongolian summers, not complaining. Might head out the to boonies next week, depending on the flooding situation that has closed some roads.

Leaving for a tour of northen Mongolia tomorrow, first stop will be Erdenet. Not lugging the laptop up there- the ride alone might kill it off. Will upload pics on my return

Did you enjoy your time in Mongolia? Come December I need to let work know if I want to stay another two years; pollution aside, I can't really think of a reason to say no. This place has a way of getting under your skin.

Yeah, I did like it' my Mongolian GF was lovely - we'd been together couple of years in the UK. But, I was young, got drunk a lot, some trouble one night with a big ending, so had to leave the country soon as possible; not sure if I could ever go back; probably not wise.

I remember going around the old temples which was relaxing and interesting; the big market was very interesting; a few really nice restaurants such as a Spanish place and an Indian across town; had my best ever T-bone steak at a restaurant, centre of town-ish, a big round ger (concrete I think); going into the little Mongolian restaurants and never being sure what was on the menu; me and a Korean friend used to sneak upto the 10th (or was it 8th???) floor of the Chinngis Khaan hotel for the dancers... Lots of good times although the winters were savage, it was -39 the day I left. The pollution wasn't great, bloody stupid Russians building the big power plant at the wrong end of town... Mongolian women in tight jeans and skirts in the summer is very pleasing; there's many more beautiful women there than folks would expect.

I've enjoyed the thread and especially the pictures.
    Cycling should be banned!!!

He was deported, perhaps even banned from returning, but we haven't managed to winkle the actual details out of him....he's been too tight-lipped.

    Something very shameful though.

Reading between the lines, there were in fact hints in the direction of some kind of unspecified obscene behaviour.

He appears to have been "a bit of a lad" in his youth.
