Fabulous scenery all-round. Especially love the tiered rice paddies in Baldrick's China shots, and the old brick house with the satellite TV dish.
It's so funny that the beautiful streets in the west have no pedestrians. I walk the neighbour's dogs so people don't think I'm casing the neighbourhood.

^That's because everyone drives their SUV to go to the 24 hour fitness places. The irony. Such beautiful streets where I live and nary a soul walking around.

^Too true, Surasak. My neighbours drive a block to go to the gym and drive their dogs to take them for a walk in the park, which is a ten-minute stroll away.

I rode in to work with Ms. B today to do some shopping. I took way too many photos of the ride in and my subsequent walk, bus and motorcycle rides. If you're easily bored by ordinary photos, move on....

Head round the block and pass the spot where we often have lunch, including today.


Lots of these sorts of vehicles around. Turn right at the end.


We're on the frontage road for Mittrapap Highway now. That's the sign for the turnoff to Khon Kaen and Pak Tong Chai. If you're not already on the frontage road, tough luck.

Pedestrial crossing bridge for Da Mor. Normally horrible congested here, but quiet today.


Second chance for Khon Kaen. No troubling frontage road. This is where the underpass/tunnel would start.

Upper sign is announcing the new Korat-Hua Hin bus service.


To get to Ms. B's hotel you have make a U-turn at what must be Korat's worst intersection. This is also the turn to the old bus station. It badly needs a traffic signal. Note the hapless samlor driver. If you're lucky, you can zip in behind a big bus that has forced its way through.

There she goes, headed for the employee entrance. Meanwhile, I leave the hotel property on foot headed for the local department store Klang Plaza.


I pass George & Dragon, one of Korat's farang watering holes.


Right close by is the PL massage parlor. If a hotel guest asks for a "fish bowl" this is where Ms. B sends them. (I had to explain the meaning of "fish bowl"....


Korat is full of Chinese temples....


and nice old wooden buildings.


This one marred only by the multiple air con units.


Wat Jaeng Nai has this beautifully carved panel on one of the old structures.

The well known "Korat Texas" steak and pizza joint. I was there once back in 2000. Many massage parlors in this area.

Chao Phaya hotel. Not as seedy as it once was, but still plenty of ladies about in the evening.


The big white building on the left is Klang Plaza, my destination. In the distance the downtown Swensens and Thai Fah City, a big electronics shop.


Across from Klang Plaza is this complex of fun looking places: Ginza Entertainment and Up to You!


I left Klang by the back door through the parking structure and into the center of Korat. You can see the old moat and the swell wooden building behind it.


Chumpol Road is always jammed with vendors.


This Chinese shrine looks really old. Almost everyone who passes offers a wai.


The Tao Suranaree monument also garners a lot of respect and makes a fortune for the flower and garland sellers. (Can you say "recycle"?)

Ms. B's parents' shop is under the green awning next to the Avon sign.


Time to catch some transport home. I'd like that Sai 6 Songtaew but it's jammed full of college students wearing blouses that are too small and skirts that are too tight, so I'll wait.


Ah, this big old bus (Rot Mail) is going to Khok Kruat and stops at Save One, just right for me. These things are slower than the Songtaews, but at least you can always get a seat. (I don't know how you get around if you can't read the destination names on these vehicles.)


My fellow passengers. The cost is 8 baht.

This is where I got off. I had to scurry across the highway as there was a convenient gap in the traffic. At night the Save One flea market is very busy and full of hot chicks.


This is the motorcycle taxi stand. I'm afraid I woke everyone up. Not normally much business at 3 PM.


Off we go. Ten baht per trip. At least the kilometer to my house.

If I had a plush looking office no one would spend any money with me as they would think i wouldn't need it.

Drive-through bottlos have been around for a long time. Even had them up in Home Hill, Queensland (population 2,000, four pubs and a bowls club) about 35 years ago.

Actually, what impressed me the most about the photo was that they sell XXXX all the way over in W.A. (and even up in Kununurra, if my eyes don't deceive me!!). A long way for a Queensland brew to travel. Worth it though, had a couple myself tonight!!
