Next we come past the som am lady....she has shouted "Yang Heng, Yang Heng!" at me twice a day, every day, for the last two years and I still don't know what the fek it means..
Actually, she was probably yelling 'You're still hung over!'.

Did you ever vomit on her at some early stage of your acquaintance?

Actually I have to admit the return journey is just as boring as the going there journey.

Here we are on Soi Theprasit, notice View talay Condo in the background.

This is quite a nice seafood restaurant, a plate of food here is usually less than 100baht.

This is a low end Thai food Restaurant, a plate of food costs less than 30baht.

And here we are at the end of Soi Theprasit with a view of Pattaya Park Tower, this is where the 2 priced revolving restaurant is.

    Sorry Geoff.
I forgot to mention that I was born in Lisbon.
The game was a sort of epiphany for me.

Hmmm... I actually have to do a 'commute' today to visit a client. If I can be arsed, I'll take the camera along.

I think I might even make the newsletter this week for the first time in 200 odd threads.

Good stuff, I have a 40 km commute myself, but frankly it is about as interesting as a gnat's biography and as useful as a plastic tea bag. three or four pics should cover it. Some nice shots of road works and traffic. we do have some classic accidents but i do feel a bit bad snapping others misfortune.

    Yes Memock.
The weekly TD newsletter that always has threads by Hillbilly and Frankie in it but never mentions me because my threads have thus far been deemed harshly and unfairly to be unworthy.

    Cheers Willy.
How far is your commute to work btw and by what mode of transport do you travel?
My brief experience in Jakarta was the most hairy driving I have ever seen.

^ I live on the outskirts of south Jakarta, a planned satelitte city - so its not exactly typical of Jakarta in terms of the roads... ie little bit bigger and better

but the driving is fckn mental anyway - they have kids of 14 driving around cars and bikes.

my trip to work each morning is via car - takes about 20 minutes or so....

OK, here goes. Apart from feeling a bit of a knob taking pictures of everything my commute is pretty boring and takes about half an hour.

Here's what I see when I step into the bright early morning sun and look south (the direction I shall be walking in).

About 30m down the road is my laundry shop. They do a good job and don't cost too much.

Further down is the local swimming pool. I've never been there for a swim, but there's a fairly decent massage place here too.

Turn left at the bottom of the road and you'll find the nearest 7/11 as well as a few shop houses selling freshly made food.

Hang a right just past the 7/11 and there's a travel agent who used to provide a whole host of services. What they provide nowadays, I'm not too sure...

does it look like Bangkok, Toto?

In Jakarta, for farang prices (half or more if you are an indo employer)

normal costs for a driver are about $80 p/m plus daily costs - about $3-5 - generally they work 6 day weeks.

normal costs for live in maids are about $70 p/m
