I leave the village once or twice a month to go shopping, that's it.

Have just done the same journey again to go swimming with the kids...

Sorry, that's my first attempt at a panorama, didn't quite come out right.

You do indeed live quite close to the new airport Nick. When you go to bed of an evening be sure to turn you landing light off.

About 20km out of central Bangkok....place called Sammakorn on Ramkhamhaeng Rd, there's some pretty high class people live nearby....well, Hillbilly and William
Is that near the new airport?
MM - It's about 16kms from the new airport taking the ring-road and then the Chonburi-Bangkok motorway. It takes a little longer at the moment because they have road-works on the ring-road (in fact, just recently I notice they have road-works everywhere in Thailand. I had problems driving to both Hua Hin and Pattaya with road-works in the last month).

Anyhow, NickA and Hilly live in a moo-baan that is pretty much self-contained. Has wonderful restraunts and food stalls. Great shops. A large school. If you were a hermit like some members of this forum, there really wouldn't be any real need to leve the place.

Also, around the lake it has some of the biggest houses I have ever seen. In fact, the moo-baan there has one of the widest ranges of houses I've ever seen in a moo-baan. Some of the houses would cost little over a million Baht. Others wouldn't leave you any change out of a million dollars.

But if you ever have spare time when you are over here, we should take you for dinner at one of the restrauants over-looking the lake. Wonderful. Just a shame my favorite, the Steak Lao, has closed

EDIT - NickA, do you mind!! The outter right-hand green line of your circle is going right through my living room and everything has suddenly gone green
Would love to meet up, especially in a nice looking place like your area. Only met you for 30 mins last year - not long enough - so hopefully we can rectify that soon.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

Well as I aint got any work here is my commute to 7/11 to buy some cigarettes, first off I got about 5 7/11s near me, as I like to spread my wealth around I try to go to a differant one each day

First walk up to the end of the road.

Now I am gonna nip thru the village on the way there and on the way back the more exciting route down Soi Theprassit will be taken.

Now this village has bungalows from about 2 million baht and houses upto about 8 million baht I think, and on this village they got this business, talk about a lack of zoning laws.

Obviously as in any Thai village there is always someone wandering around selling food.

This nice village which is mainly farang orientated has 3 entrances and 3 security guards, this is one of the entrances with a restaurant made out of junk and bits and pieces probably found at some garbage dump, yep real class.

And here we are at the 7/11, later I shall post the exciting pictures of my journey going back home.

OK here goes! Even though not currently living in Thailand here's mine

Across the road from my house Outback Golf Course(just a pitty I'm siht at golf)

The kids come out and say goodbye each day with a "high five"

My local supermarket and beer shop, 5 mins walk from home (no 7/11's on every corner here )

Main road to my work, as you can see flat out on these roads

2nd Beer shop, Drive Thru's as there known here

Another supermarket over the road from work, its open 24hrs everyday (good for the tummy on night shifts)

One set of traffic lights on my way, which is outside work. In the background is a sports oval for local Football (aussie rules)

    Finally the entrance to work.

Well this is it! as you can see I'm on night shift tonight (2 x 10hr days then 2 x 14hr nights followed by 4 days off )

Well thats it...it takes me 3mins to get to work, I probably should walk...probably.

Oh thought I would throw this one in as thats what everyone lives here for

    marto

The only reason the locals ask is because they think I am a lawyer...
