Hi David, yeah I heard of the Bernard O'Rielly story as a teenager living near Kyogle. Within 15 kilometers of me were at least seven O'Rielly families, all related to him. Have read the story of the rescue a few times, the book is called Green Mountains. Think I still have a copy somewhere. Magic country around there. The mountains in Nan province remind of it. In fact if we had not moved to Nan I suspect I would have drifted back there to retire.

The volcanic plug is decomposing granite (from memory) and climbing is banned.

I've never actually stayed at O'Reillys. Visited, but not stayed. I've told the story of Bernard O'Reilly and the wreck of the Stinson
to my Partner and will, when the boys are old enough, to them.

Met his relatives though and the Family run their winery just outside Canungra. https://oreillys.com.au/canungra-valley-vineyards/

A massive Heritage Home moved there from the Darling Downs.

But, just bla bla. Awesome photo of yours!
