I made five trips there between 1977-1979. It was totally unspoiled. The runway had not yet been expanded, and could only take small planes at the time; you got there from Sri Lanka, via the horrible Sri Lanka Airlines. There was only one island open to tourists - Villingilli. A few primitive huts on the beach, and a small shop where a German, who lived there during the good weather months, would fill your scuba tanks. Beautiful diving...schools of sea turtles of all sizes, sharks galore, and awesome reefs. Dive or snorkel all day...lobster for lunch and dinner. Never more than a handful of intrepid visitors. One of my best memories of unspoiled Asia. And unreal sunsets and sunrises. Then, they expanded the runway, brought in jumbo jets, opened beach resorts and, within a few years, totally trashed the place.

Quite a small moon though, 11km radius. Orbits every 7 hours 39 minutes.
