    ^ 1.5m or ~5' in imperial.

In Germany it is 1.5m in towns and 2m on rural roads. However, there are far ore cycle paths in Germany that mean cyclists are not on the roads.

I think that's only if you're doing under thirty though.

More than that and you are supposed to allow as much room as you would a car.

Get yourself and the daughter out to join then, Mendip. It's a great healthy activity, fresh air, you'd some weight, get fitter, and annoy lots of people stuck behind you.

    Win, win, win.

    ^ Nah.

I'd get the accountant to sort that one out.

We did consider buying new bikes to cycle down to Dorset, with bags and fossil hunting gear, but it was bloody raining.

The thing is this... if a reactor round this way builds up a small queue of cars stuck behind, the farmer pulls over into an available layby to let people pass. But the cyclists, not a bit of it. You get bug groups of the fukkers, no insurance or road tax, strung out in long lines, many two or three abreast, and it just doesn't cross their minds to make it easy for people to pass. Sometimes you can be stuck behind for several miles because you have to treat them as a car's width (and if they're three abreast they are as wide as a car anyway) and they all wear these silly GoPro cameras to report any nasty drivers. They are pretty much universally despised around here and couldn't be more annoying if they carried orange banners and threw orange powder around.

Speaking as a keen amateur cyclist, it annoys me when car drivers use the road tax and insurance bollix.
Don't you think the majority of cyclists own a car too?

And speaking as a professional driver, I haven't witnessed any yokel in a fukkin tractor pull over to let anyone pass

^ You should move to a nice, considerate part of the world then.

And your car insurance won't cover you if you rear-end a car and leave a big dent in the bodywork with your head while out being a keen amateur cyclist.

I booked the gym yesterday morning and cancelled it an hour later - 2 hours before I was due to arrive - and the fuckers gave me a 3 quid fine AND banned me until I paid it.

Apparently, it's a new rule they have introduced but didn't bother telling anyone.

Three quid is a pint of Guinness in Wetherspoons or a pint of Boddies and a packed of salt n vinegar crisps in my new local. The bastards!

That 2022 revised Highway Code actually endorsed cyclists riding side by side, IIRC. Also, passing on the left.

I cycled a lot in the UK. And I have driven cars a lot in UK. The problem is, the roads aren't big enough to accommodate all the people who want to use them.

Out there in the rural areas of the countryside is one thing. All the cycle couriers in London add a new dimension to the whole experience of being a road user. Especially as a pedestrian, you take your life in your hands going through some 'pedestrianised areas' in London.

Which side do you pass an oncoming motorcyclist who is driving on the wrong side of the road?

Fuvking hell you've changed your tune!

A conversion of monumental proportion, amen.

BTW looks a damn fine part of the world for a leisurely bike ride!

However one must be mindful of Audi TT drivers who disregard the new highway code rules and wheelspin past the humble cyclist.

I'ts taken time but motorists in our country have become accustomed to the new rules and accept it.

Grinning Karen's riding two abreast with their horses depositing large amounts of shit on the public highway is surely a more pressing issue that needs to be addressed.

Fffs peeps have to pick up their dogs shit , why can't horse riders do the same???
    Shalom

they don't make horse poop bags.

In any case horses only travel on roads for short amounts of time, they also tend to be mounted by fit women in jodhpurs.

Cyclists on the other hand tend to be blokes who think wearing lycra makes them look cool when everyone thinks they look like cvnts. I feel for them panting away, sweating when they could have taken the bus and feel sure that the breeze i create for them is duly appreciated when i pass them in the car and give them a toot of appreciation as well.

Not around here they're not, mostly lard arse Karen's getting off on rubbing their bean against the saddle.
Why do you think they are always wild eyed and grinning?

Very considerate of you, do you own an Audi TT with a yellow go faster stripe down the middle by any chance?

Endless rain - can't even take the dog out for a walk; it's like a 24 hour monsoon going for day after day... Korea is crap.

Just a general observation: I hate cycling and cyclists. Fuking up the roads for car drivers, fuking up the pavement for pedestrians, their nasty little entitled "we're good for the environment" bs while, as many of you have commented, owning cars too - liars, frauds, scumbags, they should all be executed, imho.
    Cycling should be banned!!!

It’s funny how a mixture of sun and rain produces rural greenery.
