So I bought 12 new path solar lights for the yard. Got them unboxed, assembled and all charged up. I set them up in the ground and the first night they looked great. Day 2 my monster tortoise bulldozered over 3 of them and my whack dogs chasing each other snapped off 2 more. . Time for some animal proofing

Typical plastic spear like tip and cheap (Albeit not designed to withstand animals)

So off to the metal shop to buy steel tube that I can cut into 2 ft lengths so can slide inside the plastic tube but withstand the animal assault.

Cut them up with chop saw and deburred the ends on grinder

Beat the poles into the ground and slid the light poles over.

Today I enjoyed a bit of payback as 2 tortoise were fighting and hit one and it stopped them dead in their tracks. Take that you fkrs.

Actually Yes. Started about a month ago and Monster is the dominate male and anytime he sees another male the fight is on. Late December is egg laying time.

Good solution, probably should have thought of it to start with.

Yeah. In fairness as I was setting them into the ground I wondered how long that plastic tip would last. I got my answer in about 12 hrs.

Do your tortoise respect your garden plants or generally plough straight through them?

Well we really do not have a garden. We have trees and shrubs. They typically roam wherever and do not trample things. However when the males fight they ram whatever as they are pushing each other around trying to flip the other over.

Holy Moly, little sister's hubby died this morning...

...the younger ones of my generation are popping off....and it's freaking scary!

Big Sister spent the day driving down to see her and look after things, so I'm off the hook..

That is one big surprise! Totally out of the blue! It's put me off having a third g&t tonight.

    Sorry for your loss.
I would have thought that would have been a reason to have that G&T!
Your times up, then it's up.
Nowt can be done about it.
An extra drink won't make no difference.

    My moan, what happened here?

Jaysus, that's terrible. I'm very sorry to hear that and I hope she has a support structure to help.

    Certainly nowhere near Troy's loss . . .

Spring also means . . . hayfever. Pollen every-bloody-where. We have about six massive trees leading to the gully behind us that throw masses of pollen around for ages, it literally looks like it is snowing.

. . . and of course (apologies to chico) the pool . . . which has to be cleaned of this crap constantly because it either sinks and then clogs up the filter when you vacuum or it sits on top and clogs up the filter anyway.

Pool guy has come and thrown a couple of chlorine tablets in. Wish I'd seen that before I dived in, can feel the itching now.

A glass table is not just for Xmas

    Few moans today...

Sewage pipes blocked, so called out United utilities and apparently the pipes were full of leaves.

The radio in my car keeps flashing on and off, some lose connection.

I am sleep deprived on account of ridiculous shift patterns.

The Thai ex has moved on with her life remarkably quickly and doesn't feel the need to visit her children regularly or at all.

    This weather is fooking grim

    Rant over.
    Shalom
