My moan is posters mixing up quotes, it seems to be getting more prevalent on here daily. Pamela produced a quote the other day with my nic that had nothing to do with me. Have we got a virus/glitch.

My laptop screen had developed a back circular growth/virus in the top left-hand corner. Half the size of a ฿1 coin. it's been there a couple of days now and is not growing or changing colour.

It looks remarkably like the Apple symbol. I asked my wife to help, and she did try to scrape it off with her fingernail, but gave up as she was hungry.

Do I need to go to my farm hardware store for some chemicals, my computer repair store to get rid of the virus or the hospital for a jab?
A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.

^ Sounds like dead or stuck pixels.

Dead or defective pixels are pixels on the LCD monitor that do not display properly. This could be a dark or bright dot. A dead pixel is always dark against a bright background.

    Pressure Method

    Step 1

Switch off the laptop. Mark where the dead pixel is located.

    Step 2

Use the eraser end of the pencil or your finger to apply pressure on the dead pixel. Apply pressure lightly. You can also use a damp cloth to apply pressure to avoid scratch marks.

    Step 3

Switch on the laptop when applying pressure. Rub gently to move the liquid in the crystal.

    Flashing program

    Step 1

Download a flashing program for dead pixels. Alternatively, you can play YouTube videos that are designed to fix dead pixels.

    Step 2

Run the program that flashes the basic colors for at least an hour.

    Step 3

Check whether the dead pixel has been fixed.

If that doesn't work, it's almost always cheaper/easier just to buy a new laptop nowadays.

Which is kinda a cloud with silver lining. Everybody likes having a new laptop.

Take the quote from the original poster, rather than the poster that refers to it.

Yeh ... it made we wince and smile at the same time.

Wince if that ever happens to me ... smile that it didn't.

Moan - thought I'd lost a week's worth of work on the laptop.

Unmoan - found it after a few tears.

I was recently taken to task for a 'wall of text' without paragraph breaks.

Sometimes you just need to let it go.
Its that clash of cultures that always makes me laugh, sometimes want to shout. Along with the age thing that seems to mean 76 YO Somchai with an IQ of 60 is deferred to as obviously knowing more than Shu erm any Farang.

My advice is that in future. You get on the scoopy and take yourself away, find a place, some food and drink and wait until after she's due home and it'll sort itself out.

No point, Google knew my location from using its route finding software.

Luckily, nobody knows where the only falang in the village lives, as we don't have any house number displayed. We did have another falang, a German guy. He mysteriously died some years ago, another CIA cock-up?

The only helicopter that has landed here, since I arrived, was carrying a Thai Royal Family member and servants, one or two of those may have been armed. The occasional "cloud seeding" fighter plane and the odd Thai army howitzer rumbles by, but not armed, I'm told.

Once at the FIL's farm a group of soldiers/border patrol guys stopped and chatted. All carrying rifles, when I asked if they were loaded he took his clip out and showed me, they were.

The other challenge is I write with 2 inch thick toddler crayons and thus couldn’t even fit one letter on a metro ticket!
