My moan is not about termites, my moan is about these Wellingtan sliding windows bought from Global House. They come with sliding mosquito screens, so they look insect-proof. They probably do keep the mozzies out, but the termites are a whole different story, they just creep under and over the frames.
This window was pristine yesterday, I spent a long time digging thousands of corpses out, then we had more rain and a new invasion. This pic is the crop from just one night. The things honk as they decay and I don't want to buy an industrial vacuum cleaner just because the windows don't seal.
If I ever do this again I shall consider carefully whether or not I actually need windows that open.
WTF - i just tried to post a response to the chap about buying in Nakhon Pathom and got a message saying it is waiting for the Global Moderators
Looks like the Mods are still gunning for you.
^^ I got that message once. I never saw the post appear and I never posted in that section again. Anyway, as the thread you are referring to is a bit of a daft OP, I won't be posting a reply to that thread either.
^ its appeared now, bit weird, perhaps a glitch.
^ awww you missing your mate Dill there Lulu
Reading back, that lad Manny seemed like a right loose laugh.
We want Meth. We want Meth.
^^ indeed a couple of others had the same problem, i was going to phone the Samaritans until i found out.
So, the boy sat me down yesterday afternoon and explained that his desktop computer was now 8 years old, and struggling. By an absolutely *amazing* coincidence, the latest model iMac was just about to be released, with pre-orders in Thailand to be open soon.
"Soon" turned out to be 10pm last night, at which point I got an urgent "dad, are you awake".
Anyway, to cut a long story short, 60k baht lighter today than I was when he decided we need a chat.
^ Lucky you dont have twins like me. Thankfully mine grew up, went to university on our dime and found good jobs. Now both have all new gear + telephones paid for by themselves. Much better way to go about it. For the wife and I anyway.
^ Yeah. he is still in Uni, so will be a few more years before that can come true.
He will be very happy indeed Nid. In high school two Mac Airs kept them quiet for a couple of years. Smart to buy a product that lasts.
And tbf an 8 hear old desktop???
Nothing you can do, I learnt this years ago, turn all the lights and TV off as soon as you see one fly infront of you. then shut all the windows and pull the curtains, try to keep as dark inside as you can, they will crawl through the fly screen to get to the light inside the house dropping the wings on the way.
This is a moan and a cheer. In renovating our house we destroyed the landscaped lawn. Bring in a pile driver, demolishing a big sala, and then workers walking just killed most of it. So now a DYI redo. First part is to build a hill up to the new guest room.
800 bags of quality dirt by the side of the road to start. The first 250 are in.
The start, sure glad it rained and cooled off.
Two weeks ago I trod on my glasses while trying to untangle that damn throw net in preparation of casting it again into the pond. I took them into town and got them fixed.
Yesterday afternoon I had a rare afternoon snooze on the 'outside' sofa surrounded by the dogs. All the while I was aware that Maya was chewing something but assumed it was her brick. I was very reluctant to actually open my eyes and check because I was 'in the zone' and on the verge of sleep.
Eventually curiosity got the better of me...
^Should've left your sandals out as a decoy
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
