CCC (above) ... I hear you about the charging ports.

Kids tend to force things rather then try different options.

Thankfully we've only had one charging cable damaged.

    ---

PH ... tough Dad ... understandable though.

My next hurdle will be when they get a mobile phone ... years away yet thankfully.

Back to the moans 1/ ...

Said Freezer was installed, it's a smaller 'under the kitchen counter' style. Opening front door same as a fridge, not the top opening 'chest' style.
I pulled out the old dishwasher, disconnected the mains water and the flow pipe for the waste water into the undersink waste pipe.

Slack Dave didn't close off the waste water opening under the sink (I got distracted doing other odd chores) so when SWIMBO emptied 1/2 a sink full of water it backed up above the 'S Bend' and poured out into the under sink cupboard.
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

So, SWIMBO isn't happy that the Freezer will sit on bare concrete in the kitchen.

Up into the ceiling (attic) to find an off cut from some older, an off-cut lino (linoleum) to place under the freezer, which no-one will ever see

Much fiddling later, lino is laid but the leading edge sits proud and looks a bit ugly when you open the freezer door.

So, back to lying on the floor, adding drops of super glue so the old sticks to the new.

Miscalculated a few drops ... super glue really sticks fingers together real good!

    Grrr ...

    Rice Weevils.

Toilet Paper, Baked Beans, Flour, Pasta and importantly Rice disappeared from the Supermarket shelves due to panic buying during Covid-19.

We eat a lot of rice. SWIMBO has friends who own Restaurants and access to the wholesale side of catering.

So, months ago we grabbed a 25 kilo bag of Jasmine Rice, probably 2/3 rds through it now but we've got Rice Weevils
    crawling around the Kitchen.

Easy enough to kill if you see them as they are slow ... but annoying.

Enough Moaning for a while, otherwise some might mistake me for being English

Least she's at school and you can get back in your pit for some blissful shut eye whilst she's there.

The Septic spell checker doesn't like quizs or quizes ... quizzes

What is the plural of "quiz"?

    Answer

Eric-Naughton:- Professional Organization of English Majors

Quizzes, with two Zs. The rule on this, which is admittedly full of holes, is that if the resulting plural from the previous rule “add es” would turn a short vowel sound into a long vowel sound because of a perceived silent e, then you double the last consonant.

This is also true for words where you add other suffixes that have an e, like -er or -ed

    Car Maintenance.

Late last year, bought a car.

Had 210,000 klms on it and no log book.

Fair enough as I got it at a sweet price and runs well enough.

    But ...

The fan never blew very well and there was an 'odour'.

Half a can of Glen20/Lysol ... sort of fixed the smell.

The local Auto Shop had some things on sale, grabbed a few items, including the Cabin Filter.
(They usually sit above the fan motor and behind the glove box.)

Below is the filter I extracted. The lump of detritus comes from just scooping up, with the car key, one fallow of the filter.

Turned the air-con on, recycle air.

Sprayed some more Glen20/Lysol on top of the fan after I removed the filter.

Installed the new filter, replaced the glove-box.

Smells sweet now and the fan is much stronger

^ Do you moan in your sleep? If not, you're not a true Englishman.

Anyway, if you look in your pic the weevil on the left is smaller than the weevil on the right, so it is the lesser of two weevils!

We are inundated with small ants and I constantly find them in my cereal. I spread the cereal on a metal tray, put it in the sun and the ants disappear (until next time). The only problem with this is that sometimes the pigeons find the cereal and then it's a right-off.

I was having a swim with my daughter this morning when a waspy kind of thing landed in the water and couldn't get out. I've always taught my daughter not to kill anything needlessly, so demonstrated to her that even a wasp will know you are helping it, and it won't sting you. I picked it up in the palm of my hand and it crawled between two fingers, got trapped and stung me.

For some reason the daughter found this really funny and is now saying things like, "Hey Papa, why don't you go and rescue a scorpion?"

    The bugger.
