13 or 14 is the age they begin to become "little women". Not simply the "kid" you raised them to be. I as the dad changed from a mixture of Superman, Batman and Spiderman into "Daaadd"!! Takes a while for them to come back round again.

So enjoy what you have Mendip...

Yea, yea, yea . . . you never had to deal with: (this is just a shortlist of a minimum of 64 identified gender-assignations. Pronouns are a different matter altogether)

    Agender

Not having a gender or identifying with a gender. They may describe themselves as being gender neutral or genderless.

    Bigender

A person who fluctuates between traditionally “male” and “female” gender-based behaviours and identities.

    Cisgender

A person whose gender identity and biological sex assigned at birth are the same. For example they were born biologically as a male, and express their gender as male.

    Gender Expression

The external display of one’s gender, through a combination of how they dress, how they act and other factors, generally measured on scales of masculinity and femininity.

    Gender Fluid

A mix of boy and girl. A person who is gender fluid may always feel like a mix of the two traditional genders, but may feel more man some days, and more woman other days.

    Genderqueer

A gender identity label often used by people who do not identify with being a man or a woman, or as an umbrella term for many gender non-conforming or non-binary identities.

    Intersex

A person born with a reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn’t seem to fit the typical definitions of female or male. For example, a person might be born appearing to be female on the outside, but having mostly male-typical anatomy on the inside.

    Gender Variant

Someone who either by nature or by choice does not conform to gender-based expectations of society

    Mx.

Is a title (e.g. Mr., Ms., etc.) that is gender neutral. Pronounced miks, (similar to Ms) it is often the option of choice for folks who do not identify as cisgender.

    Third Gender

A term for a person who does not identify with either man or woman, but identifies with another gender. This gender category is used by societies that recognise three or more genders, both contemporary and historic, and is also a conceptual term meaning different things to different people who use it.

    Transgender

A person who lives as a member of a gender other than that expected based on sex assigned at birth.

    Two-Spirit

Is an umbrella term traditionally used by Native American people to recognise individuals who possess qualities of both genders

    Ze / Hir

Alternate pronouns that are gender neutral. Pronounced /zee/ and /here/ they replace “he” and “she” and “his” and “hers” respectively. Alternatively some people who are not comfortable/do not embrace he/she use the plural pronoun “they/their” as a gender neutral singular pronoun.

I'm glad that one's sexuality isn't forced into male/female and straight/gay descriptions anymore and has allowed those who 'fall between the cracks' to have a voice . . . but it is confusing

There Thai words as well as other Engish ones she could have uttered.

A bilingual, intelligent and quick thinking daughter. She'll do OK.

..indeed: most of us can hardly deal with the genders we have, let alone all these newly-described ones...

Why do people wear masks? In Pattaya everyone does in public. According to the narrative, it reduces the chances of catching/spreading CV, and another reason is that's the law. But more than the law it quickly caught on to become the social norm, and Thais will comply with what is expected from their peers as much as fear of a hefty fine and jail.

Fine, but to date months of virus has killed about the same daily number of Thai road deaths, many of which are motorcyclists and also helmetless, while most of the virus victims were elderly and probably weakened by underlying health issues.

So I must admit to that inner smile we're all familiar with, watching a group of cops stand by while people on mosais drove past two or three up wearing masks, but without a helmet between them. Were the cops configured to stop only maskless criminals?

This is the result [among many others things] of cultures that over think most everything.
    Their paradigms being fabricated.

I've grown a lovely thick bushy lock down moustache, but there's a 20,000 Baht fine for not wearing a mask in Korat.

I've been out and about in town the last couple of days and I can't show it off. No-one's even seen it!

Only a handful here that were conscious enough to recall the sixties.
References through generations that haven't a clue shouldn't be counted as viable.

Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore or other Asian states might be a more apt selling point.

No car at the moment. Had to leave it with Toyota a couple of days back. Will spare you the full saga but a rat or rats have damaged electrical wires and the windscreen washer in the engine compartment. Will be covered by insurance. Expecting to get it back next week. Car is parked on a large clean covered carport with a concrete floor so somewhat surprised at this turn of events. It would seem not using it for many days on end due to the stay at home isolating caper has given at least one rat enough time to move in and do some damage. Got an inkling there was a problem when the washer stopped working but it wasn't until I started it up three days ago to rough running and amber warning lights that I knew there was a problem. Reckon it was only running on two cylinders and on the run to the dealership it wouldn't have pulled the skin off custard it was that lacking in power. If only the wife had Issan relatives, could invite them over to trap and eat their way through the rodent population.

The missus celebrated beauty salons / hairdresser's re-opening today by having ridiculous false eyelashes fitted, and my 8 yo son now has a hairstyle that makes him look like he's from some dodgy K-pop boy band.

Bring back full lock down immediately.

I promised my daughter some of my famous salmon rissoles yesterday but no salmon on the shelves.

Substituting Salmon for Tuna does not work well.

The dogs are well pleased though.
