Sitting in my inbox is an email asking if I wish to sign another contract with work. I hate making decisions! Guess I could toss a coin, if Myanmar had any !
Not to self: Don't mention ethnic cleansing
I've pretty much decided to move on. Sure, there have been frustrations with living and working in a country that is still very young in terms of how open it is to the outside world, but I'll mostly be leaving with positive memories. Stunning scenery, a frontier like atmosphere, mostly excellent students and mostly friendly locals- so long as you don't go to Mosque.

I rarely have to write formal emails and it's not something I have a great deal of confidence in. What happens if I accidentally offend somebody!? Typical British mentality,eh?

...certainly, many Brits posting here would be horrified at the mere thought of an offensive word...

One really doesn't have to be any more email formal than to suggest: FUCK OFF, I QUIT.

If it was me, I look at my best medium/long term option, say, what is my best lifestyle/monetary/professional development
option in the next 5 - 10 years.
Once you have weighed that up, what do you have to do to achieve that goal.

Not sure of your professional qualifications but, if you have a qualification and wish to teach in the West, will staying in Myanmar
    for another term/year affect that?

Money isn't everything, but it's a tool and, with some savings, a safety barrier as we age.

What thought have you given to 'where next'?

No mention of a Family / significant other?

If it was me, from a Professional perspective, I'd have my next gig lined up before I quite ... unless I wanted to Holiday
    for an extended period.

    IMHO

Great post with some solid points. Yup, could teach in the West but don't really want to live there. There is very little in the way of PD opportunities at my school- management is for locals, many of whom are actually alumni of the school.

Where next? Whittled it down to Japan, China or the Middle East.

Not in a massive hurry as I am planning on taking time out to travel and just relax.

Woke up to nose bleed city and poorly coughing kids.

They call it an old wives tale, but it really works, and that is rubbing/stroking it with gold. I use my wedding ring.

Just as a matter of interest, trying to expand on my own observations... have you taken vitamin supplemtns recently? My theory is after taking supplements, redundant minerals in crystal form are excreted through tear ducts, expressed as "sleep". These tiny crystals are sharp and scratch the eyelid if you sleep face down, opening the way for infection.

    CCC
... wish your snot rags well.

Was, maybe 3/3.30 am in the David48 Household, I was asleep on the couch having trying to watch
the CP game last night and got maybe to the kick-off.

Had a slash, back to bed maybe 1ish.

Was 1/2 awake, 1/2 asleep and I felt 'the presence'. Was one of the boys standing infront of the couch,
didn't touch me, didn't say anything ... just 'felt' he was there.

Opened my eyes, asked what was wrong, why not sleeping.
No answer, just sort of fell into my arms.

I roll off the couch, fluff his pillow, pull the sheet around his chin, under his arms, kiss his forehead and said,
    back to sleep ****

Must have had a bad dream as I was lying there, on the carpet beneath the Sofa and he just wanted contact,
    a touch.

Played that game for maybe 15/20 mins till the snore (from him) came. I released and try to settle into a
    comfortable position to sleep.

SMACK ... his arm/hand flopped down, across the bridge of my nose.
    God bless them ...

Started watching cartoons with him about 6.30am.

    BTW ... 3 - 0 ...

Got a red from Lulu for that one.
Must be he scoffs at old wives tales or dislikes theories on styes.
Or else he's just a jerk that reds for no reason?

My electric heater has given up the ghost. And it's cold and damp. I got fobbed off by my landlord who was meant to fit a proper heater in my bedroom. If I wake up early and the bedroom is cold getting back to sleep again is difficult. Bollocks to him.
    Next year I'm gone.

Three hours sat in a Christmas traffic jam to buy a pair of fvcking trainers for my eldest.

Got the last pair in the shop, only £120!

Going out again now for more Christmas shite, might just evaporate to the pub for the rest of the week.

Merry Christmas. Will someone go and tell that to the workers nearby renovating a house who are using a hammer drill today.
