I'd say it has a lot to do with the massive number of Flippies going to the US or having kids with US passports . . . I'd doubt the situation is the same anywhere else in Asia.

So, you're one of he lucky ones to get up at 04.00 to head off to Manila!

^True, but with school in session, this shouldn't be a high period. Oh well, the kids are turning 16, so no more personal appointments after this one and now a ten year, vice five year, passport. BASTARDS! (Although the guy I just talked to on the phone was helpful and knew his stuff.)

Same shit here DK. I went to get a new Passport. went to local Post office. Line was around the block. Asked some people and they said Id have to go stand in a line at 5 am and wait for the doors to open at 10am and hope to get it completed(first come, first served). I said F that. I made an appointment, First one available Sept 9. Glad I am not in a rush. There is an entire business segment that can get you a Passport fast. Of course the fees are astronomical. Most are $450 to $600 versus $175 if you do it yourself.

You can thank Hillary fucking Clinton because when she was running the so-called 'State Dept.' fees went thru the roof.

$135 here, plus about $20 for the courier service back and forth. You courier in your docs, then have to go in for a personal appearance (because it's the kids' first adult ten-year passport) and to pay, and then they courier back you new ppts.

Our Passport fees specifically are $125. They charge an additional $50 for the admin fees, all the copies, forms etc even though we are required to bring all the originals and copies plus passport pictures in with you. Not sure what that "other" $50 is really for....

I seldom need to have a small grumble.....but well, occasionally never hurts.

OK. We have lived in the same house for 15 years. Rented, two storey, ok place. Pretty shitty water pressure. No problems showering upstairs, providing no one uses the water downstairs.

Every morning I take a shower, normally between 6.30 and 7.30.

So why, for the love of god does "her downstairs" decide that that is the absolutely f*cking perfect time to water the plants, start the washing, mop the floors, do the dishes or what ever. For 15 f*cking years. For 15 years I have been calling downstairs "turn the water off" (admittedly sometimes with an added expletive).

    For 15 years. WTF?

    ^Who you burying?

^^ how long do you spend in the shower? my house in the UK was a bit like that, if someone turned the cold water on downstairs it would scald you.

One of my own pet hates, actually.....because a nice CONSISTENTLY hot shower is one of the very few things I expect from home life.

That and a bit of peace and quiet on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon, around mid-afternoon nap time. Which is often when the local fuckwits decide to use lawnmowers, leaf blowers, hedge-trimmers etc.

Note : apparently many people have moved away from the outer suburbs of L.A because of leaf blowers.

Very interesting observation. And the reason for the leaf blowers is b/c it's against the law to burn leaves, which was a major cause of air pollution. Man, but they are loud. The damage it must do to the ears of the cheap immigrant (legal or otherwise) laborers who are the only ones desperate enough to get near those fvckin' things. Now, of course, there is the additional worry of a 1000 year drought which may solve the problem of leaves in a more permanent fashion.

Training for anything specific or just like moving dirt around in wheelbarrows for no good reason.

Leaf blowers in many regions have been banned or restricted significantly. Doesn't stop them. I have always laughed at them. All they do is blow shit around to make it look cleaner versus ever really picking anything up. Lazy MF's IMHO. Pick up a rake and broom like we used to do it. Most of the Hispanics wear hearing protection now, they come with the blowers when you buy them.

Here in Northern Cal they have a "Green Team". You put all your yard clippings and such out in the street and this cool tractor(wouldn't mind that job btw) comes and picks it up and they mulch it all and toss back on the sides of freeways as ground cover and fertilizer. Of course this explains my $55 a month garbage bill. Someone has to pay those guys $100K a year salary they make doing that job.

On a side note, EGO makes a 56V electric blower and they are really quite nice. I bought one for TL to police up the dirt and dust underneath our house. Wife really likes it. I showed her she can also use it as an extremely effective hair dryer as well. (That didn't go over well for some that might attempt that)

HAHAHA. I say that every day. It is about to burst into flames. The saying now is "Brown is the new green". Peoples yards are all dead and blowing dust. They have water patrol people and neighbors call the water police. Most of the lakes are no longer lakes. Some have been renamed, Like Shasta Mud hole. .

Wait until winter, it will rain like a sumbich and all the whiners will whine more. Flooding, blah blah. Bunch of spoiled pussies around here.
