Was on my way to the local CAT office to rant about the outage and a CAT service truck happened to pass by in the other direction. I flagged him down and the significant other explained to him that we were still without a connection, even though the service guy said the fire damage had been repaired.Quote:

^ is that one of those devices that plugs into a USB drive and is used in lieu of a wired connection?
Haven't tried one before, but I may seek other alternatives if CAT doesn't get their act together soon.
AIS's web page is mostly in Thai, making it a challenge to get info from their site about agreements and monthly service fees.

^Yup, works very good and is simple to install at AIS...assume you're using a lap top?
I get 12 GB for I think around 785 baht per month...you can pay by the month or cash up in credit via the terminal at AIS...its in English as well.
See in the top right hand corner there's a little link which says 'EN' if you click on that you get the page in English.Quote:

Edit: when I spoke with someone at the CAT 'help' line, I'm told that today's problem is due to a broken fiber optic cable in Kui Buri. Two days ago, the problem was a fire in the Prachuap office. No estimate could be given as to when today's problem will be fixed.
Another flight, another hotel . . . another week working with people I don't know.
Shouldn't complain, I guess . . . as long as the dosh keeps rolling in.

On those lines, amazes me the lengths one will go to to come back and post. I have never understood it. Just man up. If you were banned you likely deserved it.

^ I've done that before with a mobile and my old laptop. Maybe have to give it a go on my desktop when the CAT connection goes down again.
As an emergency back-up plan that would offer another alternative. I worry that it would gobble up my mobile data quota very quickly though when downloading music/movies, posting news articles with photos, etc.
^^AIS sends you an e-mail giving you a WIFI username and password...topping up is easy...:)
