So why does Makro and Topps take all their imported beers out of the cases and put on a shelf? Then when you have to put them all loose in your cart or ask for a box that they tape up that is junk? FFS put a few out and leave a case like they do with that Goat piss. Never see Leo, Chang, Singha as singles on a shelf. Always in a full case on a pallet.

Yeah it's annoying Cyrille. So I go in to pick up various beers and they have them all out loose on shelves. I ask the gal, "Hey can I just get a case" she says " It's all out on the shelf" I said OK can get a proper box to put them so they are not rolling all over the fkn cart? They look confused. So she tapes a box from some Oyster Sauce with Scotch tape like that will hold them. However you look and that goat piss is staged on pallets in sealed cases so you can toss them on a cart. I guess maybe they expect that anyone buying anything but goat piss will only buy 2 or 3.

That's an interesting thought DD.. I don't care about a case discount, just want what I like and enjoy. They can give all the goat piss drinkers sale prices...Doesn't bother me. If the sales gal said "Sir, you understand there is no discount for a case, I'd say OK...Just bring me a case. . Far better than having 24 beers roll around in the cart and then have to put them one by one into my vehicle.

I have been looking at joining that Wishbeer deal. I get numerous emails after I ordered stuff during covid. I can sign up and pay the annual "Membership[" fee and get a better price overall delivered to my house in a proper case. That said, Our Makro and Topps here in Lampang have a really nice selection. In fact Topps just completely remodeled their store and has it geared towards better products but they still have it all on shelves versus keeping 6 or so then having a customer ask "do you have a case in back?"

I think to create scarcity urgency , and exclusivity, justifying higher price. It is a common marketing technique.

But I can understand the frustration, They should keep the box, or offer to bring you a full case from the store room.

I always fill my trolly with as much Asahi as I can fit. Big bottles for my bar/restaurant and small for my bar.

I'm the only person that drinks it so I basically pay store price for it then run it through my books at a mark up.

Maybe I'll start a laundry business.
