I hadn't actually looked at the sites, I was making a subtle 'Google is your friend' point.

Mick Dundee would be impressed with that one tho.

I am spending a lot of time thinking of ways to foster better social and emotional skills for sure. Oddly my 3-4 year olds are my easiest class from a classroom management perspective.

I probably shouldn't be admitting to this, but my guise as a downtrodden 30,000 baht a month English teacher is untrue.

I'm not an English teacher, I'm not earning 30k baht a month and I'm not downtrodden. However, I am working for MI6 and thus connected to the crown (let's just keep this between us on TD).

After the death of Her Maj, my handlers contacted me and requested not posting on social meeja and mentioning the queen for the period of mourning.

I had no intention of doing so, and I don't have Facetube anyway, but is this actually enforceable and could there have been repercussions if I did? Surely any group you work for cannot control your personal accounts?

    'Red pepper' didn't mean capsicum.

Shoulda turned on the light before taking a bite (while being impressed at how finely they sliced the bell pepper.)

Just a bit of trivia, but many people seem to use capsicum instead of chili pepper. In fact, Capsicum is the genus and Capsicum annuum is the species and chilies and bell peppers are varieties within that species.

So when you said Red Pepper, you did mean Capsicum, just not one of the hot varieties.

The 'red pepper' option only cothing an addithional 10 baht in a Wethern style pitheria did seem a bit cheap.

Getting small problems resolved can be problematic. We have one of those outside kitchen gas stoves, essentially a metal table with 2 gas burners on top. About 2 years ago one burner stopped working. I have given up asking the gf to get it fixed. I don't use it and I don't care too much, apart from it being something I paid for which does not work.

Things I do care about become problematic as I become increasingly vocal about getting something done. It needs doing, so why not do it now? One example is a casual worker to do grunt work around the garden. Two years into the conversation and still we have no help. She has told me that one reason she is cautious about tradesmen/workers is that I have a tendency to grumble about the quality of the work done. That's a fair cop, I do grumble about things like the guy who replaced the clutch on the truck, because it was never right from day one and she still cannot or will not help me to find a different mechanic to fix it.

The latest saga is the shower. It started dripping a couple of weeks ago. Probably needs a new washer but the tap is not a standard design and even if it were I don't think I'd have the skills or tools to fix it. Can she find a plumber, after being asked every day? This morning her cousin turns up and prods at it. We need a new tap! He goes away. I don't know what he did in there but the tap is now upside down compared to where it was and the water pressure is so low that the water heater will not come on. We only have one shower and now it is fooked. Still, mustn't grumble, eh?

Can it really be true that this whole province doesn't have a man who earns his daily bread as a plumber?

^ Shutree, I can give you details of at least three Isaan plumbers, although I certainly would never use them again.

If I ever find the one-eyed plumber involved with our house build I would happily strangle him. I just hope he put the few hundred Baht he must have saved by scrimping on the glue for the PVC piping to good use. We have had 16 years of leaks.

I might yet ask for them.

While I'm at it, do you know a bloke who can't fix a clutch and one who can't fix a gas cooker?

Even you know a plumber, they are busy and take their time coming around. I have learned to do plumbing here over the years. PVC stuff is like tinker toys. I even put in my own cut-off valves in strategic places along the pipes.

Plumbing and electrics I do myself. Much easier and quicker to do it myself than hunt for someone to do it for me. And after I've finished, I can look back at my work and feel proud of the good job I've done. And any cock-ups (not that there's been any), I can only blame myself.
