greened.
So basically, Mendip is gonna walk in the opticians with just the 2 intact titanium arms and ask them to fix the frame and lenses.
Reminds me of Trigger and his broom that he has had for 20 years.
The frame is fine.
He just needs new lenses.
^ Just noticed they were half-rim Kray twin style frames.
^ I like to keep up with the latest fashions.
I think it's a testament to the strength of titanium that I only need new lenses. The opticians can hopefully get the prescription from the chewed ones and make the new ones up in an hour... just time for me to grab a quick lunch at The Mall. I hope 1000 Baht will cover it, plus 120 Baht for a moo palo!
Today no Tiger 500ml cans at Makro!
^ The park is a half hour drive from The Mall... thus defeating the object and the gym is sadly closed due to Covid.
It could be a stodgy pizza or burger, but I'm gonna have moo palo with a small rice portion.
And, although I really don't feel the need to justify my lifestyle... the daughter and I are now well into the routine of swimming 0.5km every day, come rain or shine. Things are starting to happen!
The BBC.
I usually flip through the BBC news each morning. I don't know why I bother, a triumph of hope over experience. I use my phone for this and recently the Beeb have started slapping big 'Register' notices across their pages on Android devices. These are in addition to the intrusive advertising.
I am sure that somewhere in the bowels of Broadcasting House there are some bright young things who think it is extremely clever to make people register so that the Beeb can harvest and profit from their data without those people realising that they are simply worker ants helping the corporation to profit. A selection from just a few minutes of browsing:
Well, in case anyone at the BBC ever chances to read this: You can take your bright ideas and stick them up your fat, licence-fee-paid-for arses.
Better news is available at Al Jazeera.
Download the BBC news app for Android devices and you won't be bothered by that registration nonsense, Shutree.
BBC News - Apps on Google Play
Thanks. I might do that, although I wonder if the app possibly harvests the same data. TBH, I live a blameless life (mostly) and I don't really fret about my personal data, which are unexciting. It is mainly those annoying blue screens jumping in my face, so probably the app is the way to go.
I would green you if I could. It seems I am not generous enough, I have a growing list of greens owed. What I really need are more posters who put up something worth greening.
It's cost 2500 Baht to replace the chewed lenses in my glasses, not 1000 Baht as I'd hoped, and worse still it's gonna take them three days.
This means I have to go to Bangkok without a reserve set of specs which could be a disaster.
Do you want me to send you over 50 poundland reading glasses Mendip, only £1 each just let me know what magnification and i'll pop it in a care package with those 1 years old dog chews
And there are farang murderers all over Chiang Mai according to you, I see.
Considering your regular 'school ma'am' cries for maturity, you really do like a good troll after a couple of Leos these days.
Mendip himself said he was surprised at the price.
Do you happen to know one thing about the topic yourself, by any chance?

^ It all adds to the excitement.
The gardener gets his glasses from the local barbers at 50 Baht a pair... he just tries loads on until he can half see again. I don't want to go down that route... should see the state of the garden.
What I don't understand is that when I bought the glasses new a few weeks ago it took only an hour to get them made up... just time for lunch.
To get the lenses replaced will take 3 days, which makes no sense. And 2500 Baht seems steep. I think the girl was saying that someone was away and they had to send them off, but to be honest I couldn't understand what she was saying.
I was going to say - that's been the case when I've had to fork out more than expected. Either for varifocals, or for lenses reactive to sunlight that have to be done in BKK.
In the case of my current glasses I got this bostin' new v. expensive coating - which got scratched after about a week.
For over 30 years I've been paying out to opticians in Thailand, but maybe I'm not sufficiently informed on this topic by TD standards.
I would've tried somewhere else, myself.
Like Bangkok.
