Woke up to thick snow then 8 hours later it had vanished and was replaced with glorious sunshine.

No rhyme or reason to the weather so far this year.

I tried to go shopping today, fat chance of that, they have chained all the gates shut- new level of lockdown.
This is getting a little concerning, I'm not worried about catching it but months and months of being locked away is what they are talking about. Wuhan style lockdown. Those repatriation flights sure are sounding good.

Back to online learning in Thailand. Until the numbers decrease apparently.

Think they should probably just stop testing people...

I'm from England, actually "where next?" has been on my mind a bit more than it usually would be at the moment. I like places (and seem to do a lot better) in places that are considered hardship or frontier posts. No idea why, I'm a weirdo. Central Asia in general seems to be a pretty decent place for me- perhaps one of the "Stans". A friend is in Kurdistan and she is having a great time by the looks of it.

& Mandy i thought the vaccine rollout was going OK there, surely that would ensure the measures could be eased?

Someone posted recently (maybe the lunch thread) about Branston pickle. Not had it in ages, and thought I would add a jar to my Tops order. Was going to have a dollop with my dinner tonight.

Now what in the ever loving fuck is "Smooth" Branston pickle?????????

And for information, apparently there is a product recall on some jars (mine is "good", except that it is fucking "smooth").

    Product Recall Notice | Branston

Twas me Nid, with my pork pie. It used to be you selected small or large chunk Branston, no idea what the point in smooth is and why anyone would want Branston Puree

On further reading, the smooth variety is aimed at sandwiches. Easier to spread apparently.

Not even a moan but this thread was open...

There’s a Co. Songkran party at our resort for P.I. Service Co. Ltd. and there are a bunch of drunk Thai office staff wearing red T-shirt’s with “PIS” written on the back in bold white letters and if you don’t know why that’s funny I don't even wan to know you.

That sucks.... seems like it is getting good in the UK now, opening things up. May be worth thinking hard about going back for awhile? or elsewhere if possible as you mentioned?

I am moving online again next week after this week's April break. It is ironic as I quit my online job to move into the schools in another city, and now because the third wave and variants are so bad, they are moving to online indefinitely next week. Thankfully, I won't lose my job. This school year is one I will never forget.

Some devastatingly terrible news! Not for me, for Karen...Looks like we don't have to quarantine after all.

She's gonna be beside herself it was the only thing that was bringing any joy into her life.

I thought about it for a bit, and have decided against it. Would be a pretty piss poor example to set to the kiddos if I just flounced away from the problem. I'll stick the contract out until next year and hopefully by then the world will be in a better place.

^Right, but I didn't mean to leave your contract. I figured you were finished in June, so I meant after that. Anyway, good luck!

Yeah, it looks like I will be here until 2022, which I am fine with for the most part. Nice new apartment and a 3 month vacation starting at the end of May. It could be much worse. Good luck with the online school, it really does feel like it is more work in many ways.

^Yes, I guess make the best of it is all you can do! I don't mind online teaching for a bit, but I can't stand sitting for months and months in a row. I much prefer in person teaching and got a real good gig to boot.
