Went for my quarterly blood donation visit at the hospital today - rainy and really windy, no parking close by. Drenched going into the blood-letting dungeon, drenched during the blood-letting ritual, drenched during the post-blood-letting extravaganza while eating the offered orange juice, Anzac biscuits and KitKat bars, drenched walking back to the car.
Wet, but a good feeling
Calf cramps respond very well to magnesium tablets.
It's a bastard of a way to wake up in the middle of the night when you stretch out....
^ drinking more water should be enough. A wander around the bedroom on your heels works as well...
Ready to smash my computer thanks to the picture upload bs on TD. Glad DD made it so it can be a hosting service but sometimes its a bitch.
Tried again this afternoon. Maybe servers are on strike or i lost pic uploading privileges or i forgot how to do it

After 6 months of covid lockdown, decided to try a night out in the city centre, absolute ghost town...
Normal life as we new it is gone for the forceable.
For my retirement extension this week there was no mention of insurance, handed over the papers and it was done with the usual stamp salvo. Ignoring post-Covid insurance requirements which are recent and more demanding than the scam requirement, I know some farangs that went along with the extortion, one coughed up 53k (!) for the same policy virtually word for word that's on offer for 16k (18k?), but from a non-accredited firm (ie no kickbacks, so you must go with the jaidee one). Others went through corrupt visa agencies (15k-23k) that share the loot with corrupt immigration officials, if such things exist.
I can't confirm but was told by a generally reliable source that there's also a 6k (8k?) policy that meets requirements, though this appears to be an opportunist scam created in response to or to supplement the immigration scam, the cover being inadequate with very low limits, exemptions that cover most things, and ridiculous excesses; iow a worthless piece of paper that will get you through, probably engineered by corrupt immigration officials with a farang front to get more than they do from their corrupt agents.
Ok that's my view on the insurance scam, and let's move onto the bank deposit scam, which further fuels corruption since there's clearly not enough of that in the immigration service, and which was with typical Thai mental gymnastics touted as a cure for corruption in that particular gov dept.
I was given a letter ordering me in crisp Thai-English to report with bank book in 90 days to confirm the extorted 800k is still there. It seems this particular idiocy is a hoop created not just to refinance the corrupt and incompetent Thai banks, but also to reinforce the power structure by antagonising farangs with another hoop. Because, 2 friends that have dutifully presented their bank books both report that confirmation of funds is a purely visual affair, immigration make no record of the event, they checked the balance and handed the book back; both asked how they could know the 800k was still there 90 days after the extension without posting it into their system, and both received the same straight faced reply: we will know when you bring your bank book in for next year's extension.

And the ongoing bread saga is not going too well either, nothing to do with the staff, they're good, but the slicer is at death's door, took ages to slice yesterday's 12 quarters, after the first one the old Chinese assistant told me to come back in an hour because the machine's not working. I stayed to watch her cut the next, first she had to clean the blades that were clogged, and then it still took more than two noisy and rather dangerous looking minutes to force through one small loaf, it came out the other end broken and slushy, which I rejected and asked for the manageress. The manageress knows me well, wonderful woman, speaks perfect English, I have complained to her several times over the past decade that it slices unevenly, sometimes breaking up the loaf, but this time when I asked for her the cashier jokingly begged me not to complain because they'll all get into trouble - even though the monster is on its last legs. Note for newbies: Thai workers get the flack when management give them inferior tools. Anyway I wasn't paying good money for disfigured and broken bread, brought over another loaf (4 quarters) and rejected the worst 4 of the 12 quarters she was doing, which I can only guess they'll either sell on to some sucker or quietly dump. And on the bright side, I expect to report good news on my next visit. Note for newbies: don't expect!
Socal, if that is what you expect, that is not how it works anymore. The forum software has been upgraded twice since you were a regular here.
He can indeed upload and save pictures to TD. He can create an album (or several albums) and post pics from there as and when he likes. Look at the profiles of Mendip and HuangLao for evidence of that.

Ah yes, but my little bird chirps they're getting a new one, made in China no doubt, but until that dies I expect sliced bread as it should be.
No no no, no choice, they either get one or stop baking loaves that may need slicing; most people buy cakes and buns so it doesn't affect them, but surely you don't think I'm the only one complaining!
And no doubt they will up prices on all by a few bahts.
There is nothing better than hand slicing a loaf of bread on the breakfast table. Select your preferred thickness for toast and sandwiches; warm in the oven to get the mouth watering aroma; easy to make croutons or breadcrumbs for stuffings; hollow out to make a house for the pet mouse... There are so many things that you are missing by having that bread sliced.
