Pub is no good to me I'm a teetotaller. If I drank alcohol then I would be deported pretty quickly.

Oh if life was so simple! My sim card is registered in her name and she won't link my account to it. She hers and my accounts linked to her phone so she can check on me (haha).
As if I give a shit.
Anyway she does pay over the phone quiet often but it is always a lottery and I don't want to be left sitting in the dark when the power gets switched off.

There are 2 types of people in the world those tha pay their bills when they get the bill and those that leave it as late as possible and sometimes too late.
I'm the former and she's the latter so I am always wanting to pay long before it even comes onto her radar.

FTFY Dil. Best to let her go and stay home and have a few cocktails. Then act all happy when she comes back and she tells you about all the buy 1 get 1 free deals she did to save money.....

    I don't f**k**g have an ID!

Do Thai people understand that foreigners don't have a Thai ID card?

That's it I will go west now instead of east and shop at Big C until they give me the shits.

In the end I really couldn't give a toss about how I have to do shit it just annoyed me that I had to find out that something else had changed at Tesco.
I must be getting old and set in my ways because it appears I don't like change.

As for my missus she is firstly a woman and a Thai and then my wife so I stuffed no matter what.
She always reckons I am telling her what to do when I give advice.
When I ask what is her opinion or what are we doing I get the usual vague responses that ends up with me doing the wrong thing.
I keep telling her 20 years you have been trying to change me and not succeeded so if you are as smart as you say give up trying

Sometimes you just gotta suck it up.

Fork me I'm starting to sound like terry57, god forbid!

You can set up your water bill on auto pay if you have an SCB acct. You can do the same with electricity through BKK Bank. As I said in another post, they get your phone number and I get a line message that money was deducted from my acct for PEA and how much. Same for water. Both have apps for your phone as well. Its too bad that you can't pay both utilities through one bank but each has their own banking acct.

I wasn't aware, or told, I would be getting one. It came as part of the yellow book handover. An additional ID photo taken at the district office against the height panel, the card was swiped through the office computer and handed over with the yellow book. I'm not sure what advantages it gives the foreigner, possibly at police/army road checks.

As Luigi states, mine is valid until death, as opposed to a set time limit for Thais.

All these options were previously available and convenient for some, I've used the 7/11 payment procedure for years.

The rules seem to have changed, i.e. A standard blue/black Thai ID card is compulsory at 7/11 and Tesco to pay utility bills.

Not the non chipped, foreigners, pink, Thai ID card. Apparently it is not compulsory that the Thai citizen whose card is used and possibly the account holder, be physically present.

Whether that new procedure will apply to any apps that were previously available from your bank/utility, has yet to be determined.

As the PEA Electric bill was delivered, left in the pole box, today. There doesn't seem to be any new red warnings on the bill.

I will try the PEA route tomorrow. With my wife's ID card tucked in my pocket, to be unveiled if asked for.

More importantly, why didn't MK inform us/post this important Thai news?

Early on I did that but hated having to remember to go as I didn't frequent 7/11's much and then sometimes I would stop to get something and go "Ahh shit, I forgot the bill at home"

The apps and auto pay is quite nice. I never even think about the bills anymore. I mean I only have the same 3 each month.

Don't drink much now so I try and find one with a tool shop or hardware near so I'm not dragged through the tedium of shopping, or worse, paying for a relative's shopping who will pay me back later. Pfffttt, that never happens.

I'm one of the fortunate few - give the boss lady cash money, point to the rout tua commuter van, and let her go at it free rein alone.

She's a spendthrift in the first place, built in limitation - she can only carry so much, also has to lug dinner and dessert fruits, so, she'll hit the markets alone and I'll veg out with four or five hours of quiet "my" time.

    Highly recommended for all.

I am certainly offered much "food" in recompense. The various fruits fresh from the trees, bananas usually need some "seasoning", I adore. The "prepared" meals reluctantly.

I've no idea. I was just surprised you can buy them in Makro in Thailand.

Or did you mean something else?

Well thanks, but I can't make out what's in the picture because it's a small, low quality image but never mind, I will assume you meant something else that goes by the same name as gondola.
