So - will be going to Europe for three or so weeks early next year. Did a lot of on line booking, paying flights and other stuff. Racked up a fair bit on the credit card (250,000), statement just came so time to pay it off.
Go to my bank (SCB) with my statement. I would like to make a payment on this please. Response: cannot.
Much faffing around, they will not take payment for a citibank credit card. If I really want to do it - I must download some app and do it that way.
Fine. I will take cash. I know 7/11 will take payment, but only up to 50,000. My colleague suggests the post office (wtf?). Yes, can pay off citibank. Maximum 50,000 but can make two payments in succession. OK. Off load 100,00 - no charge.
Next bankok bank. Yes can pay make payment to citibank. Limit 100K. Fine, off load another 100K (30 baht bank charge). Ask if we can get a copy of the bill bar code so we can go elsewhere (e.g 7/11), only to to get told, you can pay more here. So the real deal was you can make as many payments as you like, but each has a 100K limit. Final 50K paid off (30 baht bank charge).
What an absolute fucking palaver.
Daily moan:
Booo. The best thread of the day binned.
It came up on new posts earlier with the new label that went to a see administrator page....
moved - Too much
I honestly don't know what I said to make Dill completely lose it like that.
Though... I may have an inkling.
Do you have nothing better to do with your time than look for a raise on the internet?
Oh hang on
Took it to the shop today.
Second best 300 baht I've ever spent.
Cool season my arse. I'm not feeling the love working in this.
My back is still aching from meeting the wife at the airport, carrying then 50KGS down to the airport shuttle (trolleys banned...) then up from basement level 7 to ground level at Seoul station, then carrying the fuking bastard stuff onto the train (obviously no easy places to put the baggage on Koran trains), off hte train into the cb then outta the bab into the house - help from wife, zero, as she was sleeping from the day's travel...
&, endless Tha crap which smells bad and I'd rather not have in the apartment!
Cycling should be banned!!!
^ it'll keep her away from your Branston pickle
The SD card in my camera failed. I guess they have to fail sometime...and it was old...but it's around 100 photos I will never get to see again. My other camera has two cards with one set as overflow. I think I'll be changing that to backup. Wife allowed me some red wine to cry in...
Troy, you are in Thailand. When you get back to Bkk try out one of the shops in a tech mall, they can sometimes perform miracles.
^ Thanks, l'll look into it. I managed to get a new SD card today, which isn't as easy as you might think...out in the sticks has its drawbacks.
I think you were lucky it was only 100 photos. I usually have thousands at a time on my camera SD cards. My current main SD card has over 1,300 photos on it and .. I've just checked ... the overflow card has over 6,200 photos in it! Time to transfer them somewhere else I think.
Indeed, after I lost 1500 videos^/pics last year on a SD card I've started automatically uploading them to a dropbox website.
Peace of mind now and it could have been worse.
Spin moan on the stored digital photo’s
Love ‘em. Gone are the “expensive” days of having to print your photos to look at them.
Yup, these digital photo’s are the proverbial cat’s pajama’s – hell, Boyle and Smith even won the Nobel Prize in Physics (2009) for inventing CCD technology to bring this life changing methodology to humankind. Let’s not mention the financial upheaval and the many “film” photography businesses that died a swift death.
However, that set aside – the freedom to click away without fear of price has seriously burdened my digital storage requirements. Quick look; reveals > 100 700MB CDs, 10X 16GB USBs, 5X 32GB USBs and 5X 64GBs. Yea, my digital photo storage files exceed 700GB of photographs. Yea, this equates to more than half a million individual photographs.
Now, just where the hell is that One Photo I want to share?
I have a question for all those that worry about losing their pictures and video's.
How often do you actually go back and look at them?
Over the years I have "lost" lots of pictures etc. when computers or phones crashed and burnt but I rarely ever think about the fact that I can't see them ever again.
The ones I miss the most are those taken of the house build as I would have liked to be able to see them to see where are how pipes etc. were put in.
Luckily I posted a whole lot here on TD in my house build thread and instead of using a photo sharing app. I up loaded them all to the TD albums.
What do people do with all the stupid selfie's they take these days?
Agreed Ootai. I peaked taking pictures in about 2008, i can barely be bothered nowadays and sometimes get back off a trip a realise i've not taken a single piccie. Never got the whole vacuous selfie thing or the need to take hundreds and thrn lose days of your life rooting through and weeding out the crap ones.
So I like what you have done. I use a portable hard drive and have also burned pics to discs.
Things happen over time so being the nostalgic type I have a few back ups. Yea, ever since my laptop went zero gravity as miss fish put it into orbit over a purported "Bengie" long story, never mind.
The other day I was looking through a box of actual photos. Crazy hey. Who does that? Now it's thumb drives and SD cards. I do like the ARMOR version by Silicon Power out of Taiwan. It's like the Samsonite of portable hard drives. I don't think it's water proof but it can take a puck shot across the ice.
