Electric out all night, which is very unusual these days to be fair. However, it's the third sleepless night in the row thanks to this and insomnia. Rough.
8:20 and I've looked at all the forums. Now what?
November seems to be dragging, so far it's been a pretty shit month. My ex-flatmate sadly passed away in Vietnam. Now, you would have thought that the school would make some effort to be supportive or at the very least, helpful in giving the info needed for next of kin. Nope, the American embassy had to force them to do it. I am beyond exhausted after calling embassies, estranged families, police and close friends of the deceased. If I din't have a sense of duty to finishing the contract for the benifit of teacher continuity for my students I'd happily pull a midnight run.
And then there's been the electrical supply this month- seriously if Myanmar put as much effort into electrification and they did ethnic cleansing then it would have the best grid in SE Asia!
So, November: Fvck you and fvck off!
I've just had a couple of slight, possible signs that I may, at age 62, be developing either early-onset Parkinsons, or Motor Neurone Disease, or perhaps Myasthenia Gravis. Too early to tell and may be a false alarm, but just another thing to worry about.
They're all pretty shit things to get. Guess I'll have to indulge in as much sex as I can in the meantime.
You could have had a mild stroke.
Go the doctors
Thanks to all for your concern. Have been to 4 local doctors who weren't so helpful, but saw a neurologist the other day. Still inconclusive, but symptoms only very slight.
Probably just a glitch in the system.
The neurologist conducted tests, one of which is the Masseter Reflex test. They take a stick with a round piece of rubber on the end and tap your lower jaw in a downwards motion, just below your lip.
Well, going to a neurologist is a serious business which makes you a bit nervous, and the absurdity of having this serious person come at me with what, to all intents and purposes, looked like a Dalek eye stalk, and tapping me on the chin with it, sent me into a laughing fit.
I had to apologise and explain about humour being a reflex to the dynamic tension between the very serious and the quite absurd. But I may have noticed a knowing look as I had previously admitted my ....er...rather extensive marijuana use in earlier years. As you have to when giving medical history to a neurologist.
I'd feel better if I could just thoroughly insult someone, but it hasn't been the same since ENT disappeared. Sigh.
A couple of people have suggested a mini-stroke, and now that I think about it, the first symptom started at the end of a really hot day at the end of last Summer.....it was a bloody hot Summer here in Oz. I don't think I drank enough water that day....I had a headache. So I'm thinking more and more about a mini-stroke.
Had an MRI recently....it's pretty weird looking at your own brain, I tell ya.

But it does look like a hell of a lot of blood vessels going out to the ol' schnozzle, doesn't it ? Keeeriste !
Must be an optical illusion.
I found the problem?
You have a large portion of the Yukon delta behind your ear?
On a more serious note you could have had a mini stroke ( transient ischemic attack) or TIA.
A TIA is like a stroke in that it produces similar symptoms, but it only lasts a few minutes and causes no permanent damage. .
If only ENT were around to advise the dose of lobelia
^^ That's what I'm thinking....except that 6 frigging months later I've still got "the symptom" (which shall not be named for reasons of anonymity).
I had a shit of a day working out in the sun, didn't hydrate enough and got a headache afterwards. Then did the same a day or two later. I reckon I lightly fried my brain.
How will you know??
Sorry
Strokes are to be taken seriously, minor or major. My friend and ex flat mate died from one the other week at 46 after moving to Vietnam. Spoke to him last week and he was full of energy and happy to be out off Mandalay. I'm glad you are following the symptoms up, LD.
No, why ?
Or is there a joke here I have missed ?
^best offer youve had all day?
