Not really had the chance to do any painting for a while now as I had a nice clear slot in the weather to open out one end of my workshop and build a new extension on it , it was a case of once you kinda started it you had to carry on untill it was finished and water tight .
Anyway so very pleased with the result now I have finished it as it’s a dedicated area to allow me to glue up and assemble my picture frames and also to actually glue up on a beautiful perfectly level area the wood that I use to make the frames with .
A good 70% of the timber that went into it I salvaged from a skip yard as timber prices here now are through the roof , example an 8 by 4 OSB 18mm sheet was around the £20 mark for years , now in most places they are £40+ !
Anyway after dropping the better half off at work the other day I did manage a little oil sketch on a crap bit of paper on my early morning excersise stroll here on the lovely easy coast with a nice fresh breeze .
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs
Coming to the end of our glorious holiday cottage break up in Northumberland , seriously thinking of making the move up here into the Morpeth area , this is a landscapers paradise .
The misses has allready sussed out her job opportunities ,
Friendly folk up here to and very respectful
Here is a few of my crappy acrylic efforts ,, from the holiday , I hate the plastic shit but it’s better than nothing as the landlady would be rather pissed if I stank out her fully booked cottage out with linseed oil and turpentine
Looking good, as always
Brilliant!
I wish I had the skill.
Haven't we come a long way Nigel...
Great to see you kept at it.
Got a style of ya own now.
Cool.
Sorry about the lack of paintings lately , I have been so busy helping a lady who has recently lost her husband to covid and she was in a very very difficult situation , however I’m getting on top of all the things that needed sorting and she is a whole lot better now.
Anyways some good has come out of my good deeds , this lady has a great grandson who is 110% art and on a recent visit to stay with her I was allowed to take him out with me for his first plein air experience in one of our local yacht clubs which he absolutely loved , he is only 13 years old and is very knowledgeable about his art and colour theory etc.
It was a joy to paint alongside and help him and his Mum contacted me and thanked me so much for taking him .
Next time he comes down I’m taking him to Flatford to paint in Constables Country
Here we are out painting with an old boy passing by having a chat with him .
What he doesn’t know yet is , when my time comes he will inherit all of my painting gear , and believe me there’s probably over a thousand quids worth , it’s really made me happy to know this will go to good use and not just get lobbed in a skip or virtually given away .
Thanks Helge , I was beginning to think everyone had lost interest .
I understand this page has very little to do with Thailand and tbh I’m very busy now with other things , trying to get my you tube paint channel off the ground
Not at all Nigel, I have a subscription to this thread and so get a notification every time a new post is made. But often I don’t have much constructive to add other than nice painting of that looks beautiful/great and so on.thus I am reluctant to add such because I didn’t want to clog your thread. It doesn’t need to be Thai related this thread is a classic.
that’s a wonderful scene with you painting with that young fella, really heart warming stuff! Do you have pics of his and your works? I’d love to see them
Thanks Wills ,, no I don’t have any other pics ,, his Mum was waiting to take him back home after and I gave him mine to rework as he saw fit to do so .
However she is keen to bring him back to his Nans so I can take him out again.
No worries next time I get him out with me I will make sure of plenty of our pics during and our finished jobs
Thankyou Ed , but don’t worry about that , there’s no competition here all levels and abilities welcome to post up .
In the Uk now because of the pandemic lots of people have had a go at various new pass times and one of the popular ones is painting , a lot of people realise now just how relaxing it is and regardless of the end result the process is most enjoyable
when I’m out and about painting in my local areas I actually get people come up to me and thank me for doing it as they love to come and watch and enjoy the process.
Its nice if anyone gets inspired enough to have a go
Close on 30 deg that day Wills , thanks it’s good to know it’s fed through.
Was off to Flatford to paint out today but got a call from a recently widowed friend some bloody morons had trashed her husbands recently placed plot , so I’ve been busy getting new turf etc and sorting that lot , however I’m all set fair for a day at Flatford tommorow .
Spent the rest of today making a new frame for tommorows painting , so not all bad
Hi Nigel and I really love your work.
A mate of mine, Robert Hagan, is also a talented painter and some of his works has been sold for tens of thousands of dollars.
https://www.google.com/search?q=robe...hrome&ie=UTF-8
He also has sold some of his more famous works which had been printed and embellished by local Thai painters that he had trained.
A fraction of the price of originals but looked like real paintings.
He also was giving on-line lessons and the last I heard he was very busy.
Good luck with your venture.
Painted a couple of these old gals down at Maldon today , right over an old failure of mine , using only three colours , I shall sit down at home take my time and do a much larger version and hopefully a saleable piece nly could paint for 1.5 hours as it’s very very stormy
oil over another oil on MDF
Craftsmanship Nige - luvly
