I agree that the sea isn't up to Nigel's usual very high standard. It looks like much of the sea has been painted in after the horses were painted rather than before. Perhaps the scene was changed at the last minute. Still, I couldn't get anywhere near that good.

On another note, I like the change of material in the Nigel's Cafe life painting. It's a nice painting and I think it's nice to note the ever changing scenery in Britain's high streets. In 100 years time, someone can point at Nigel's painting and say that's such and such cafe in Frinton in 2020, because for sure there will be a different business there in 100 years time.

All comments are good , no worries ,, the horse painting was completed from start to finish in just an hour and a half , and finished all in one go . Yes indeed the observation by Nervana about the water being painted in after is 100% spot on as this is the only way with wet oil paint you could do it , you cannot paint over wet oil unless you want a treacly muddy mess .

Horses and riders being the odd shapes they are have created a kinda difficult negative fill in area , if I was painting a highly detailed painting I would paint the sea , leave it a week to dry , then horses right over the top , however this has all been done in a quick and impressionistic way so it kinda is what it is , it didn’t stop it selling to the owner of the horses for a very nice sum within 2 mins of her seeing it . Also commissioned me to do two more for her plus another lady who wanted it came round after I told her it was sold and bought two others so all is not so bad .
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Took the wife to a thai temple near to Wellingborough a couple of weeks ago for a celebration with about 50 of her mates ,, I wasn’t interested in any of that old mambo jumbo and unlike all the other husbands I didn’t want to spend the morning on Facebook I took to the grounds with my painting gear . Lots there to paint , very nice place Post YOUR artwork here, cmon !!-0d0b2167-50db-4e40-a978-0465e1155b10-jpg

You have inspired me to post here as the last 2 paintings (Post #1755 and 1756) you posted are fantastic.
I am sorry for saying this but I rarely find the paintings you do to my liking. That is not meant as a criticism just my opinion as someone you knows stuff all about art and who couldn't even paint a fence.

Again they are beautiful, well done and thanks for posting.

It’s been very windy here lately which presents huge challenges when painting outdoors as I love to do , luckily my car is from a van derivative so is an ideal blocking tool to shield behind . Obviously these photos show no inclination of the Gale I was shielding behind , but it was a lovely afternoon paint out , and the lady who owns the nearby stable came along and bought it which was a bonus

A little painting I did standing up on the greensward above the beach here in Frinton , a young lady in her late teens exclaimed that’s our beach hut ! The big blue one sideways on ,, she said she absolutely loved the painting . Now let’s just say she hasn’t been dealt such a good hand in life as most of us , so I gifted it to her Mum to hang up in the hut and they love it

Oil on primed MDF board about 8 by 12”

We are having some rather spectacular storm clouds over us lately with some all or nothing cloudbursts

A good place to see these is over the Hamford backwaters just to the north of where we live

So I’m calling this cloudburst over Hamford painted from a photo plus a bit of imagination in my conservatory .

Again oil on primed MDF about 16 by 10”
