An old painting I did in Ban Chang Rayong 8 years ago in the heat ,, painted plein air with a wonderful gal beside me :)

Just been mucking about with some old paper , this is just an imaginary scene from my head , nothing in front of me , only imagining what I will see in Italy very shortly on our upcoming trip ,, can't wait to get painting out there !

lovely colours indeed, maybe better if the wave splash or spray crept above the horizon at least in places?
Very good anyway !
Yes thanks + sorry about not putting the finished one up ,, its already found its way into a mariners home near to the sea ,, he is very happy with it ,, so that makes me happy :)
BTW Blue ,, it does in the finished one ,, will see if I can go and get a pic to show you , the splashes are well up there and wild !
No need
instead lets have a photo of you strapped to the rocks near the waves - to get a feel of the scene, like J W Turner used to do..
Mr. Turner (2014) with Timothy Spall produced by Mike Leigh might be a good watch when it's released later this year.
Mr Turner, review: 'supremely enjoyable' - Telegraph
That looks great , thanks for the link I never go to the pictures but that one just might make me break the habit
No time to paint pictures tonight , but just found a bit of time to prat about with some gouache ,, this is a lovely type of paint to just have a quick muck about with , trying all the time to learn what colours will and will not work together and alongside each other .
Have a go with it ,, its very cheap and very easy to clean up after ,, you might well surprise yourself

I just refurbished our bathroom and in doing so painted it a rather nice warm orange colour , I sold the old painting in the bathroom but painted this one this morning in gouache to complement the new bathroom :)

^ very nice
Bit of a work in progress thing here for you , our dear Canadian Lady Nat has not had the best of times this last week or so , but anyway during her stay over back in Canada she has been posting some pics on FB , said I would give this one a shot for her.
I have again chosen acrylics which tbh are doing my nut in I wish I had done this one in gouache ,, however I will persevere with it , I don't think I will be buying anymore acrylics when these ones are used up

A bit further down the line , long way to go yet .

it's coming along nice Nigel.
I got a set of 12 graded pencils from a pound shop , very nice - 6B to 5h
bargain ! in a metal case too.
Went back the next got and got a case of watercolour pencils - what a rip off;
kids coloured pencils are just as good, ie useless.
Might be worth having a shot at a pencil drawing with that lot , just see what you can do with them
I envisage a few sambos and gollywogs being drawn up with Blues new pencils
I don't care what he draws as long as someone else starts posting some art work on here , I reckon most are bored with mine by now ,, be very nice to see some new contributors ,, or even some of the older ones
I doubt that very much. I enjoy them, keep em coming mate. I might try and knock something up for you soon:)Quote:

Yes I will be taking my £1 set of pencils, my clipboard and some A4 sheets of paper.
Difficult it is .
No doubt the sketching will follow the normal pattern: 30 mins feverish drawing, suddenly scrumpled up into a ball, tossed high in the air and deftly hoofed into the distance, before it gets a chance to land .
I uploaded some back issues of my favourite art magazine Artists & Illustrators, in Pdf, to Demonoid torrent site ( I cannot log into blocked sites The Pirate Bay or Kat via the proxy sites )
I can't seem to link the page here, I don't think Demonoid likes the &.....
or something .
If anyone wants to download them
google :
Demonoid - Artists & Illustrators (magazine - some of the back issues from 2011 and 2012)
and follow the first link.
17 issues - Good read they are .

Thanks QC its nice to see people enjoying the ride , comments are always more than welcome .
Blue take a pic before you toss it next time ok ?
Have to say I have began to enjoy painting this street scene this week , I have dogged away at it every evening for a couple of hours after work before it starts to get dark .
Infact I have to be honest I look forward all day to getting out that poxy lorry and picking me brushes up , painting is such a wonderful way to relax and unwind and tbh as clearly demonstrated by myself , you don't have to be very good at it to gain from the relaxing element it brings to you .
I will upload some more updated work in progress pics later on tonight after I finish work .
Next up I hope to be tackling painting a Lancaster bomber in a bit of a dramatic sky , I am going to do this in oils though , as this acrylic paint I am finding very challenging to say the least , I really like to mix my paints far more than the time allowed by acrylics.
My idea is to paint the Lancaster in a kinda very dark sky with a tiny break in the dark cloud where a glimpse of bright light is shining through , which I hope to illuminate a section of the plane with . Well thats the idea in my head lol ,, all I gotta do is somehow find the ability to get it down on the canvas !
Happy days painting :)
This was the finished one of the Lanzarote coast one above

And this is as far as I have got this week with this acrylic one .
I have to say at this point it looks terrible on here , its lost all its zest and presence , in the real the colours from opposite sides of the colour wheel the orange and mauve / purple are really singing off the canvas

Can you post the photo that you are working from? It would be interesting to see them together in a before & after type way.Quote:
