^ Dunno mate , TBH , its all a bit of a mess really , apparently it was a farm beforehand , but now has been divided up into industrial units .
There are various units , car salvage , car respray , etc that kinda thing . Well she is coming up to her 70th and her son who asked me to paint this for her lived there when he was a boy , so I guess she has seen a few changes over the years .
Come to think of it I guess thats why she has let the front become overgrown a bit to screen out the comers and goers all day , I noted she has pinned a sign on the orchard ( out of view in the pic ) as " leave this fruit alone this is private "
Well mabe this little pic will bring a smile to her face when there was less activity outside her front windows :)

Thanks kindly lads for the comments and repo
TBH ,, its not something I would have ever attempted to paint , when I phoned the guy lastnight to let him know I had managed to do it , he was overjoyed .
He will pick it up next weekend just before I go away and his Mum's birthday is in December , he has promised to email me her reaction in December , so I will post an update here later on .
A painting when given as a gift , is hopefully the gift that goes on giving :)
I have to thank the wife for letting me sit painting Sunday instead of helping her ,, oh well back to the washing up :tieme::)
One word: wow! I'm mesmirised! They are all absolutely stunning, well done and thanks for sharing;)
Well thanks Jacob and welcome to TD ,, please partake in the thread if you are into painting or drawing , we always like to see others work .
Well have finally got about 75% of the scene done... big big problem though... the lower right corner is an open blank that cannot be balanced... have spent days trying to figure out how or what to put in there.... Need something to keep the eye from falling off the edge lolol..... have played with people, trees, shrubs etc... but can't seem to hit on what pleases me.

Dunno if I can help mate ? especially as I can't see it .
What medium are you painting in ?
Beer, the last time I saw him... :)Quote:

This is the first time I spent quite a bit of time trying to plan it out... some of it worked and some didn't. However did learn a fair bit about the process, sketching trying to get a 'balance' etc. The one hindrance was known at the beginning, that blank spot in the lower right quadrant. Decided to leave it till the last and then try and sort it out with the primary focus already finished.
Did manage to get the verticals, horizontals and diagonals to point at the POI so that was accomplished at least. Not at all totally pleased but it was a decent experience of things I hadn't tried previously... (underwater rocks being one).
New brushes performed as advertised a nice surprise, but I guess you get what you pay for.

EDIT: Overall a enjoyable effort at least on my part. 9x9 canvas panel, W&N acrylics
That's come up a beauty mate!

A charming little study EG, very nicely done. :)
Well done indeed EG ! some lovely bold brushstrokes going on there mate,,
Some really nice light + shade going on .
I have managed to pack some of my magic acrylic glaze medium , so hopefully I can get round sometime to helping you and seeing you go forward with your painting .
I still think its great how different we all see and interpret things ,, I will have a go at that one when I land in Thailand as all my art gear is in the case now ok ?
BTW ,, that last one I painted for the guys Mum above when he picked it up he gave me exactly double! what I asked of him for doing it for him , as he was so pleased with it . :)
I also have 2 people at the moment for when I come back to the UK who want to buy some of my older paintings of local scenes in this area which is rather nice , dont get me wrong I'm never gonna make any money at this game , but what is really good for me is to have my hobby paid for .
Thank you folks for the comments. As usual I see a ton of little nits that piss me off, but I also chock it up to learning and 'try' and not make the same errors over and over.
I chose this scene knowing it would be a test with all the different elements involved, it surely was but a great learning tool.
I really look forward to some instruction from our 'resident' artist. LoL Although I enjoy the process, learning from books, videos etc is fine to a certain point but having a more personal form of instruction will benefit for sure.
Happy to hear of your 'commercial' success Nigel... IF I ever sold one it would send me over the moon for sure. Us amateur artists do it for pleasure but having a sale would validate the process. :)
Now to find another challenge
