EG good effort on a new subject matter ,, I love the way you have simplified the background with that colour mix .
Just one little tip / observation if it helps , mix a little cad red / violet colour together to place a shadow underneath it ( not too dark ) and it should jump up off the canvas a bit

Well this is the initial study of Marmer's pic of Burma.. was intended as a tonal sketch... two colors UM blue and Permanent Alizarin Crimson , acrylics... Titanium white added for adjusting tones.
Now need to a proper one with the trees that he hacked out of the original.. no sense of composition lolol

Lovely combo of colours there EG ( BTW I would flick that bristle off the canvas ) thats a lovely strong bit of colour , something you and KW have in common , mine tend to be a bit washed out compared to both of you ,, but we all have different styles and see things in different ways .
Its great to see you taking part and I am very much looking forward to seeing your next installment of that picture as it progresses .
BTW as I will be over in October and as I believe you are in Marmites area if there is anything art wise you need bringing from the UK that you cannot get in Thai please give me a shout and I will do my best to bring it over for you ( as long as its not a full size easel ! ) :)

OK here is a 5 min rework based on the original photo.... tough to get a really really dark using just the two original colors. Had to add just a touch of Burnt Umber to get a dark that was prominent.
Although the composition sucks ( it was quick and dirty) I think it adds perspective to the amount of distance percieved.... Detail in the foreground provides a basis to judge distances.

TBH ^ Gippo thats a bloody good starting point for a lot of us ,, I guess many of us when we are kids get given one for xmas or birthday,s .
Funny thing was I never had one , and I never asked for one , I really disliked the kinda jigsaw look it ended up with , I think later on they brought out a version you could blend together to take that look away.
EG the strong darks have certainly done the trick , looking good mate ,, mabe I.ll have a go at it with some pastels or watercolour over the weekend .
EG I use KB,s as well , I dont know if you ever use Jackson,s ? they have some very special online offers , its good to know KB,s post out to you ok , mabe in the future we could get together over an order to share post costs etc ,,, just an idea .
If your that close to Marmite you could go round and replace that can of beer in his right hand with a paintbrush , I,m sure I read some time ago he was an art scholar from the past and we could shake a nice landscape out of him :)

Well that would be something.. its a mouse though rather than a beer in his hand most of the time.... but then again he "claims" to be just an innocent bystander...
Computer art is way to flat for me.. no 'depth' in colors, variations etc. even if you add brush strokes you can't get the texture of a good paper or canvas... at least I can't...
He claims to be educated in the arts and it seems so, having been offered a crit or two by him.... I've offered to supply him with everything he needs... but then.... nothing.... Of course he will ask for what I don't have lololol oils
got the pencils, water soluble and regular, oil pastels and tons of different w-color and acrylics... no excuses
It's certainly done the trick in perspective, the additional colour adds a variety of tone and the trees add a bit of interest, featureless hills without anything else in the picture are too boring.Quote:

I agree, like I mentioned this was a 5 min bash lolol the idea was to focus and center the POI and emphasize the perspective. Hence the two trees instead of one. Kinda overkill intentionally.Quote:
