I have heard this before in the states, here.
For years I've had friends telling me, "Frankie you oughta open a restaurant."

It would then be a job, instead of a joy.

I love food, I enjoy cooking for groups of people. I like sharing good food with people. I've often thought about opening a restaurant. I daydream about "Frankie's Roadhouse" or "Frankie's All Star Joint" the food is delicious and it becomes popular with travelers and locals alike, It's not making me rich but there's food on the table the rents paid and I can afford a decent ride. Nice. The good life.

Then the day dream takes a life of it's own. Mabel the waitress, throws a shit fit and quits during the lunch rush, the fucking dinner chef doesn't show up. The bus-boys refuse to clean out the grease trap, There's no decent tomatoes at the market and my hydroponic herb/chili and greens garden gets a nitrogen overdose. I open a fresh bottle of Wild Turkey, fire up a bomber, get on my scoot and say, "Never again!"

Stress of the day dream's enough. Why ask for any more misery than you already have? Maybe one day when the end is near and there's that "one last thing" left to do I'll do it. Restaurant owners have less social life than programmers (and that ain't much). Have ever seen a restaurant owner that didn't have a perpetual scowl on his face? Owning a restaurant is like a marriage only the chances of that marriage being an unhappy one are far greater.

There is in me a desire to open a restaurant some day. But the reality of it is; I'm too fuckin young to settle down.

But things are heading in the right direction where I might get to throw a wang dang doodle in the next year. if it happens, I'll invite ya'll. I'll guarantee the food. That oughta cure them Damned Day Dreams for another year or two.

I think I would have tried making the cole slaw recipe if I hadn't seen the pictures.
It would have been much better to leave it to my imagination!
