    Low end Thai restaurants

Now you cant really call these places resaurants but they do serve food, you know the sort of place, concrete floor, corrugated iron roof, a few chickens wandering around nearby, and some half naked thai baby pissing or shiteing on the floor, now I havent been to one of these places for a few months and today I was real busy and needed some quick food, normally I would hit one of the nicer places that cost 20 baht more and have nice tiled floors etc.

Anyway i got there about half 12 this afternoon, the woman owner was ordering her food from some motorbike foodstall, which really wasn't a good sign, anyway off she goes to cook me pad kappow moo with a fag in her mouth, it was actually quite good, and as you can see in the pics i was only drinking coke, but all this for only 30baht, I think if I made myself a coffee and cheese sandwich at home it would cost more than that.

anyway this place is in soi siam country club on the cornrt of soi 16.

Well today I had lunch at "Khun Johns" lakeside restaurant, now this is next to mabrachan resovoir, which as i have mentioned before doesnt actually have any water in it now, whether he will be changing the name or not I don't know.

Now daytimes I generally only snack as I don't want to turn into an obese american, or have people thinking that I am American.

anyway back to this restaurant, I had pad kappow yet again and a coke, this came to the sum total of 65baht, believe it or not the food wasn't as good as the above shack and cost twice as much, but hell its a nicer envoirement, nicer furniture and a nicer concrete floor.

Well this isn't really low end, but its halfway down jomtien beach road and the prices are so cheap it should go in the low end market, I think this pic explains the prices quite well.

yep 89baht for all you can eat, ok the salad bar is not on par with sizzler, but hell who eats salad at an all you can eat joint?well i did, i just fancied salad thats all< yes i know its something i wouldnt normally eat.

the choice of meats also included liver/yuck, and the normal stuff plus prawns and that, now this is like mk where you got to cook the stuff yourself but they have these things that you can choose whether to bbq or boil, heres the machine thing you get.

obviously after a while the bbq bit in the middle gets a bit blackened with burnt meat, but hell thats bbqs for you, the main thing to be wary of in here is that they try to put ice in your beer, when i saw her doing that i asked if the beer was cold, she said yes it is cold, wtf are you putting ice in it for then?100baht for a big heinecken aint too bad

heres a pic of the view from my seat

Nice view except for the ugly red vehicle.

Don't you put some fat or something in the middle to prevent the thing from getting black and the meat too?

Well I have to admit that this one aint a low end place, yep I splashed out this evening a whole 615 baht, that included beer and ice cream, now this place again is halfway down Jomtien beach road but is real classy.

It's called the Jomtien restaurant and spa, we ordered 4 main dishes, heres the food.

Well this afternoon was the old boiled pig place, this one is on Soi Thepasit.

So I had boiled pig, with no fat or skin,I don't like slimey fat, this was over rice, with a small bowl of onion soup and a bottle of coke, all this for just 35baht, although the cheeky git did try to short change me, not bad though

Well the most expensive dish I ordered was for me son, it was the old raviolli, I got to admit that at 150baht it was a bit pricey for a crappy meal, but I must hasten to add that we got a doggy bag and me dogs loved it, this I would never bother ordering there again.

Next we come onto what they are famous for, yep the old spagetti bolognaise, now this dish is 80baht, things don't get better than that, and it is really good with a load of the old cheese to pour on top of it.

Is this place near that nice 'house of hookers' you took me to?

I went to Bruno's for a steak when I was in Jomtien. Very nice it was too. About 700B, but I didn't have any drinks. Sorry, I never think to take my camera to dinner.

    I thought so.

Was it really hours? I remember you sitting at the bar when I returned, so you were obviously a bit quicker than me.
