    My beautiful Italian Girl friend

She is not young, she is not pretty and I have had her for several years so she is a bit tatty around the edges, but every morning before my wife and kids arise we continue our long standing love affair.
I go and see her, prime her, wait while she warms up and push her button. Her little body throbs & pumps away, finally she spurts out a nice creamy brew for me. As long as she is cleaned and serviced regularly she never fails do deliver satisfaction.
    Her name is Gaggia.
She only does one thing, and that is produce great coffee, she doesn't do grinding, if you want that, do it somewhere else.

My mate recently spent about 30,000 baht on an all singing all dancing Krups. What a piece of shite, it leaks water and steam from all the wrong orifices at the wrong time because it tries to do too much and therefore does nothing well.
Same thing with a coffee shop in town where a little woman operates a Saeco. She spends 15 mins trying to get it to work before it produces anything.

I love you my darling Gaggia.

A friend bought a large one for a coffee shop he opened on Saipan. Still going strong after 15 years. It has needed repairs now and then and, of course, no Gaggia dealer on Saipan. So, he takes it down to the ship fitters who do boiler work and they've learned how to do the necessary fixing.

There is a lot to be said about purchasing a product that comes from the companies core business. I have a water heater from Sharp, its NFG a oven from Electrolux its NFG.
Wheras my Maytag, Dyson and Toyota are all brilliant.
When product companies diversify from their core compencies they generally produce shite.

Never heard of that company. Maybe it's just a brand they sell in Australia.

I just put my Mr. Coffee to rest after 10 years faithful service, and only because the plastic bits were falling off. It still made great coffee. Replaced with an upgraded Mr. Coffee. Don't mess with a good thing.

That certainly isn't what one wants from a tilac, Italian or other.

Have to agree about Krups- I bought one in Australia.
After about six months of service, it starting leaking in all the wrong places too. Then the screw on attachment starting ocassionally popping out, creating a right mess. In true Adelaide style, no one knew where to get it serviced. I brought it here to Los, but I've never bothered trying to get it fixed- drip filters cost all of 400 bht or so at Lotus.
So it now sits in a darkened cupboard, and I'm back on drip filter coffee.

My beloved one, though rustic produce a nice coffee but not foamy. No maintenance and the only spare part to be replaced every year is a barely 50 bahts rubber seal.

Support different sources of heat too.

    I have a Saeco semi-automatic I bought 6 or 7 years ago.
I use it almost every day (more than once a day on weekends & holidays) and it has not failed me yet.
I decalcify it 4 or 5 times a year and clean the brewhead regularly. It's a relatively simple machine,
so there is a lot less to go wrong. Makes good espresso and steams milk without a hitch. I wouldn't
trade it for another at this point.
It's a luxury that paid for itself in less than a year vs. retail prices at the local coffee shop.

Sorry to burst in here, the topic title attracted me, I mean, those Italians look just like Thais, apart from the prominent noses and a notable deficit on the Thai language front, well and a few more physical features if one was to look any closer, that's not to say I'd reject any I talian on principle, nor any of the delicious food their country has to offer, but as I said already, I think, I have never had an Italian girlfriend, so you may safely dimiss this post of mine, as well as other posts of mine, although this is not relatet to this thread, Italian girlfriends, nor any Thai theme at all, I mean, don't pay much attention to me, not that I would assume you ever did, but then, my comment does stand here, but does this mean anything, when you delve into the underlying structue of why we are all here, if we indeed really are, anyway, w hat I meant to say is that I like Italian girlfrie nds, and good luck to you, whether you meet them in Italy or somewhere else.

I'm born right deep in the Alps, 30km away from France and Italy and it was and is a real delight to live in such a mixed way of life, with italians on my left and french om my right. They brought such a lot of richness in our culture and a lot of friendship, Thanks to all of them.

    Definitely nice people.

How to introduce you to the big sister.

A genuine 3 holer ! yes guys! this baby can service 3 of you at the same time, no toy this girl. She is too much for an ol' git like me, but I just keep her in reserve hoping one day I might summon up the energy to take her on.

    This thread is getting sloppy.
Italians eat spaghetti, and have tanks that go faster in reverse.
Germans eat saurkraut, and have over 500 different sausages.
    'Nuff said.
