Transferring a vehicle to a foreigner

Another post made me wonder about the process of a foreigner owning a car in Thailand.

Say, for example, you had a car in your partner's name, what would the process be to transfer it to your own?

I did search for it, but as we all know the search function is useless. If there is already a thread covering this, then a link would be appreciated.

You will need a non immigrant visa and either work permit or proof of address doc which one can get from immigration.

Once you have this go down to your local car registration dept and they will transfer to your name.

^^ Yep, it's a trip to the Immigration office with your passport (obviously stating your resident status), 2 passport size photos to buy a certificate, which takes a day that must be presented at the time of the transfer at the licencing office.
Don't think the yellow book was required.

I actually did this a few weeks ago, further to purchasing a car back in May 2011. Initially the car was registered in my wife's name, but she then wanted me added to the book. We went down to the local registration place with my passport and my yellow Tabian Baan. The female behind the counter completed the paperwork and then demanded 6,000 Baht for the process. We both laughed and questioned this outrageous amount, after my wife explained that I was only to be added to the book, the fee suddenly dropped to 100 Baht!!! Amazing Thailand!

Well you learn something new every day.
I didn't know you could have two names in the book.
    Thanks
