    Money Owed

I previosly worked for a company who's head office is in Malaysia I finished with the company on May 25th this year.
They owe me 2 months wages I have e-mailed numerous times and just recieve the same old story "when we get payed by clients we can pay you".
Does anybody know of legal firms in Malaysia? Or can a legal firm in Thailand try to get this sorted.
I'm getting very frustrated with the whole thing.

Reread your employment contract before you do anything.

A friend of mine was in a similar position, he worked for quite a number of years for Sunshine Bakery in KL, It got taken over by another company who assumed all residual responsibilities for existing staff.
He then got laid off by the new company, he battled for 2/3 yrs to get his retrenchment salary due, spent a lot on legal expenses but in the end had to give up.
So don't hold out much hope for you getting yrs to be honest.

IF the company is listed on the KL Exchange, or any exchange, its dead easy... Did it myself.

Contact any lawyer worth his salt (referenced from Malaysia) to do a simple letter. Can't remember the details but once the letter is placed on the court docket it is an official "liability" being 'contested in court'... Company shares are un-tradeable until such time as liability is resolved.

Worked very nicely for me. Once trip to KL to pay retainer (1,000 Mr I think) and two weeks later another trip to KL to pickup cash from lawyer who held the money in escrow.

Best way to get a reputable Indian/Malaysian lawyer without taking potluck from the phonebook is to write to the Bar Council in KL, explain the problem, and ask them to recommend one .
