geoff, lysander - it's a long time since I have generated such hate, do we know each other from a previous life? If you read the first post again, you will see that the crux of it is a simple enquiry as to who qualifies as a countersignatory - the rest is just padding.

You don't need a counter signature for renewing your passport.
Permanent address, put a relatives in the UK.
10 working days for the passport and they will even send it to you by EMS is you pay a bit extra.
I'm surprised that someone as well travelled as you, has to come here for advice on renewing a passport.
