^ I think as a tourist, you can stay for max 90 days over a 6 month period, if you exceed that, then you have to leave for 6 month. It might have some thing to do with the amounts of stamps in your pass-port as well, you can only get 3 enteries in a 6 month period, even you only stay 2 weeks at the time. I might no be right, but it would be my guess to your problem..

    That's not nice.

But, Mr Shiva does have a point. If you are after information, it really would help to write in a clear manner, so you will be readily understood. Not everyone on here is a native speaker, so everything you can do to make your posts legible helps.

Things like new paragraphs, capital letters, punctuation and so on.

I think the best you can do is to talk to the Thai immigration - you can do this at your next entry. Based on the stamps in your passport they can tell you exactly what to expect since every stay without a TR visa counts to the 90 days within the 180 days rule.

In addition if you arrive without a TR visa they might ask you for a ticket out of the country within 29 days when entering. But this all depends on the immigration officer you have in front of you when you enter the country - I made my bad experience already since I calculated the days wrong by 3 days ;-)

To be on the save side follow my advice before. They know how to calculate the days. In any case have enough money and all data with you that you can handle a problem - applying for a 7 days emergency extension or going back and buy a ticket and finance some more days outside of Thailand...

If you 'lose' your passport & get a fresh one, do you get another 90 days?

With a 30 day stamp on entry you are allowed 90 days in 180, after this you must apply for a visa, be it a tourist visa or a non immigrant visa, in Penang they will only give you 3 tourists visas back to back, but by then that is 3 lots of 60 days at least so you can then go back to 30 day stamps on entry into Thailand.

Hiya Doax. I will try to give you some answers. Up untill a year ago, one could come to Thailand on a Tourist Visa, valid for 30 days. After 30 days, one had to cross a border out of Thailand, and come back in, giving you another 30 days. The Thai government (bless them) decided that this was not good for them and changed the rules. The new rules say that after you have done this three times, you must stay away from Thailand for six months.

One way around this is to apply for a multiple entry, non-immigrant Visa. This allows you to stay for 90 days before you have to go out and come in again. A single entry Visa, will give you just one shot of 90 days. This type of Visa, you can only get in your home country or a couple of others that still allow this. I have been trying to find information on what countries will give you a non-im visa but they have a habbit of changing their minds. Perhaps someone else can help on this?

The Royal Thai Embassy in Hull will give you all the latest information on Visas and they have a good, user friendly, web site and you can send your passport to them by post if you need to.

    Hope this helps.

That is not a tourist visa, a tourist visa has to be applied for outside of Thailand and will allow you to stay for 60 days and then you can extend for up to another 30 days, the visa you are refering to is just an entry stamp for 30 days which is stamped into your passport on arrival into Thailand..

I am so sorry for my mistake. I have many wires crossed. I think the correct phrase should have been ' Visa on entry'

    ^^
Correct. It is a TVE or Tourist Visa Exempt. i.e. no visa involved it is not a visa on entry

"The new rules say that after you have done this three times, you must stay away from Thailand for six months."
I disagree. You can stay 90 days within 180 days
