    Work Permits

My PA attended a seminar yesterday about upcoming changes to applying for / issuing / renewing work permits (moving online apparently so brace yourselves for that inevitable complete clusterfuck).

Anyways one of the new regulations is that you now have to carry your work permit with you. Every where. At all times.

I know, and that was relatively straightforward!

This is going to be a monumental clusterfuck of epic proportions!

Me too. Fecking thing will be in pieces in a matter of days.

Stupid bloody rule anyways, what's the point??

If I'm not in the office likely I'm not working so why do I need my WP.

Actually I barely work even when I'm in the office so why do I need one at all.

It is being enforced by RTP and Military on Samui, with large on the spot fines being issued. Not just westerners, but Burmese too.

Please respect the laws of Thailand.

I was told that once by a copper that was trying to confiscate a motorbike of mine whilst refusing to show his name or give any receipt.

Isn't it the same with passports?

I've got a semi-eroded copy of my passport and yellow Tabien Baan stuffed away behind various pieces of lint and crud in me wallet. That'll do 'em.

I once was given a lift by a copper on his bike to the police station to pay the fine for being clamped for parking illegally.

He helpfully pointed out the no-parking zones and markings as we went...

...the wrong way down a one-way street. With no helmets on. And speeding.

Everything ends up working just fine once the people on both sides figure out how it's supposed to work and ignore or skate around the aforementioned clusterfcuks. Sad bit is the dummies think they did a good job of it and that's why they were promoted.

I know that you were supposed to have the WP with you when you were at your place of work. Most people just kept a copy.

What kind of a rule change would require you to carry it in non work situations such as when you're asleep or you're going for a swim,? Sounds daft and very much a ThaiVisa type scare.

Expecting a uniform code of proper dress to be on our venue before long.

Though, this, like all officialdom that is created and cast for Farang [residents] will fade or very randomly enforced such as every other fashionable policy bug up their arse.

Wonder what else Ant's PA is responsible for?

    GIF selection?

Keeping track of when the usual suspects are ripe for another red?

    FRT...first thing tomorrow?

Does that sort of thing actually make sense to you in your head before you post it?

You know the delay from thought to keyboard to hitting 'post' affords the chance to review and revise, right?

It just never quite works, does it.

So close, but oh so very very far.

    Oddly fascinating.

Well, in the way that a hamster 'playing' chess might be.

OK, so 'fascinating' was overdoing it.
