Is this real a foreign owned company

I am thinking about starting a company here and have heard it can be controlled totally by a Foreigner is this possible and does anyone know of a firm that can handle this kind of paperwork?.

And would i need 3 million baht for a work permit for my self as well.?

Can do if you are American.

Otherwise you'll need Thai partner(s) like everyone else. You still will need 3-5 Thai employees for your work permit. (depending on current law)

Doing the sole thing as an American sounds like a benefit until you see the extra paperwork involved every time you renew anything. But hey it's only money...
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?

I looked into setting up an 'American' company over ten years ago- as you said, it was so much hassle for not much actual benefit that I went the Thai company route- unless things have changed for the better, it's not worth it.

You can apply for a foreign business license and be completely 100% wholly owned company operating within Thailand.

Not applicable to bar owners, pig farmers or any tourist related businesses.

    Nope.

Basically if a Thai can do it, you're not eligible.

Sorry AP agriculture is a prohibited business for aliens, some ways around it, but you need BOI approval, meaning big money.
You can get a W/P with one Thai employee plus Thai wife, but not a good idea.
Most farm produces are sold tax free, small farms, if you form a company you will have to pay tax and if you process the beans, value adding to the product you will be hit with VAT.

Best to keep under the radar until you are ready to make real money. If in years to come, the project looks like it's a winner, go to the Small Medium Enterprise board. If they think it's a goer, they will help set things up. Jim

Yes a Thai can do it. Poor you..... Your permit will have you down as a specialist chef. ie pastry chef, chocolate chef or summat glorified.

Probably better to leave the growing as a small farm, then no tax on the sale. Form a processing company that buys beans.
That's how we do it, our rubber plantations are not part of the rubber company.
Your problem may well be, if the processing of the beans comes under the factories act. You would need to look deep into it, is it a food processing or classed as something else.
If it is classed as a factory then you have lots of hurdles to jump to get permission, there will be cottage industry rules that are easier to follow. Much depends on turn over and money made.
Most people who form a company here are forming a paper company, you are looking at something different.
My case I needed industrial [ national] zoned land and all the permits and licenses, just the same as in the west.
Best you get a clear idea in your own mind, what you will be doing and size etc, then see a business accountant for advice on your options.

It's a bit like the pig thing, small Thai farmers can have pigs, no taxes etc, but when you reach a certain size you become a business and the rules change. Jim

I'm a long way from you, think you had better find a local, ask around with some of the farangs with businesses in your area and see who they use, or get a recommendation from the SME department. Strange enough my accountant is the husband of the woman in-charge of the SME department, who would have believed in that co incidence. Jim

RS I found, if you have the right approach, a few Thai friends who can contact their friends, anything is possible and I have never had to grease the wheels other than a meal and a bottle of JW.
Out here here you don't have to be a big fish, it's a small pond, but the guy who gives the go head has the same authority as the guy in the big pond.
Play the local game, not the western game, show respect, walk away if t he answer is not what you want. Try a different approach to the problem and usually things will work out. Jim

    Oh, I realize this, Jim.

It's the Thai way. not our way. Once you except it, life gets easier.
You like me have been here awhile and have come to be somewhat Thai in our approach to things.
I used to bang my head against trees, but have leaned over the years, the only one with a headache was me.
It's their game and we have to play by their rules. Jim
