    I believe you need to be registered somewhere else and then set up a branch here.

    Yes, foreigners can set up non profit charitable foundations. Soi Dog is a good example but you will need to have a criminal background check, at least a level 6 Govt Officer to guarantee you and, a Thai nationality Chairperson to get it registered. Once registered, about a 4- 7 month process you can change the chair to whomever you want .
    200,000 baht is the necessary initial starter donation.

    This is not true. Foreigners do need a work permit to volunteer , yes, but a registered charity can obtain such a permit.

    Thanks, Hypatia.

    I guess the next steps are to speak with a lawyer.

    Off the top of your head, do you know if the process could be simplified by demonstrating that X% of profits would be diverted to a Thai-friendly trust fund?

    @Hypatia

    The English language center, AUA, is a non-profit but it diverts "profits" into organisational development... which includes Thai employee training, etc.

    Thoughts please!

    What is the perceived benefit in Thailand of having a non-profit enterprise vs having a small business that makes no profit?

    I really do not know about this trust subject, specifically.

    I can say a foundation can certainy, ".. conduct activity to raise funds. "

    ^ Agree.
    The term is "services" that foreigners are not allowed to engage in. Of course that is so broad as to be meaningless, and means just about all WPs are technically illegal.
