In my side of the price, but for me times two hilly!! But some will be done slower as they just got a trip to America alone and both got new MacBook Airs,

But they have me in them. They are willing to shop and get the best deal. They know where they want to go to university and its Stanford. So savings and study are where its at.

Looking good, bro. It will be nice when I go see you next time, in the next few months.

Just a question. You showed a pic of mould and rot in one of the walls. Is there a way to completely get rid of that or do you need to replace the wall?

Oops, sorry, I just thought of another question. Is there something you can use to prevent mould from getting in there?

Nat, no you can replace around it. These houses are brick and that wood is either very thin or like gypsum. Yes you can and it was applied. But that window faces due west, so if not being used is kept with the doors and windows wide open for ventilation. We had no termite problem at all. You know its also right at the top of the staircase.

So when it rains, it just comes pouring in that window if we dont remember, arent home, or just were not fast enough. After 12 years that bit had run its course. As for the rest of the house, a few cracks here and there, but all in all the thing is in good shape. You will not recognize it. I got lucky in the wife left Sunday on business, she will be back tomorrow evening. I was able to change enough color and style that the place now does not look some Chinese attempt at a western house. The kids are over the moon about it.

Trying to uphold some of your standards marmers. You have been in the house as long as 10 or more years ago so you know what I am dealing with when it comes to what I want. Cant wait for the next time you and the midget come to BKK. Or better still we get off our lazy asses and come and see you up in the real Thailand.

Hell the place was so gutted last night, I somehow found my way around the workers to make some chicken salad up. Then the kids to it, wheatbread, lettuce and tomatoes up to our room. Put down newspapers to eat on. At the last second I came running in with a nice plate of hot crispy chips to have with the sandwiches. A nice picnic was had by all. Today the wife comes home so its going to be even more crowded. We now only have the master bedroom as a sanctuary. The rest of the house is well a freaking mess.

Try to use a bunch of caulk instead of properly fixing some rain damage and the such. We will begin to eat out more now that the wife is back.

Better to be safe than sorry, Cheers all. And LT it was a treat last night. In fact the days the wife has been gone has been like a holiday in a shitty resort under construction. We still found time to get to the pool and bike ride and the such.

Yesterday for lunch while I was at work the kids cooked up some tacos and quesadillas from the leftovers of the previous nights dinner. They said at times they had up to 7 workers watching them prepare the food wondering what the hell it was.

Isaan laborers had never seen anything like this.

Looking really nice AO. The bold colours contrasted with lighter ones work really well. Been trying to persuade Ms Bangyai to have at least one wall with something strong on it but its an uphill struggle. You're also lucky in having all the work done for you. To save pennies I have to do it myself which is a real pain.

My plan was to do it room by room over the course of about a year. But when we added up all the furniture we had to buy and the quality of it versus built in we started rethinking.
To have them come for 10 days to 13 days and finish it all its really not a bad deal at all, its just I have to fork out all the cash at once.

Kids room new built in cabinets, and bedside tables, guest room converted to office for kids and make up room for wife with a futon for guests. 2 built in desks with bookcases. A built in make up table with cabinets.
Office buddah room two built in cabinets and an extension to an already large desk.
Master bedroom, built in computer center for me, and two new bedside tables with drawers
Downstairs, new built in cabinet in the dining room, new built in spice and condiment area in the first kitchen. Plus new veneer on all the counter tops that are not already granite.
Living room, new veneer on all the wood damaged by rain. Our house is all windows and the downstairs has no air conditioning.

Living room new built in china and crystal cabinet.

Then we add in the paint, sealers, lacquers, el al and we are talking a lot of work. I will shoot you a pm when its done and let you know how close we came to the original quote. We are a week in now with not a problem one. Part of that is the wife has been gone, and she is a very meticulous person.

Should be able to post a few more pictures today.

Well the builders are well into the downstairs living, dining, tv rooms, as well as the kitchens.

Preparing the living room ceiling for the paint. This guy is good.

Clutter and why we cant eat downstairs anymore thats the dining rooms table.

More cabinet work in the kids new office.

Unique cabinet for the kids room, you can see the silly screen door opens in so this way socks, undies and unmentionables are well put away. It will be white to go with the teal in the room.

This is what I am talking about.

My new computer "center" being built in the kids room.

Reinforce the beam on the stairwell, it was wobbly, I dont need a fat friend falling off and breaking his or her neck.

the contrast of colors in the stairwell atrium.

More shelves going in the area that will be the wife make up table.

The wall in the Buddah office room painted, and the new cabinets going in. Sorry about the quality of this picture. I will get a better one up.

Where the TV and a few family travel photos will go. Also redoing water damage to the column on the right.

Well thats about it for today. We should be about half way into it. The re-doing of the parquet which is all upstairs is going to take a while I fear.

LT, suggest the life in addition to the stairs for when electricity is not working and for safety purposes. But then you probably already gave that consideration.

well today they let the monkeys out of the zoo. First the computer table was 2 inches too wide and 3 inches too high. These are huge mistake in centimeters.

Then they pulled every wire out of the router computer and monitor and put them under wood, and then proceeded to walk all over it smashing the plugs and bending them. The result i am in an internet shop drinking beer out of a bag. Resisting the urge to go home and kill my maid who I love for letting them do this shit while I was gone to Foodland. Then I will go after the two escapees from the zoo.

Jesus fucking christ this is on top of forgetting to take the blinds out of one room and then telling us it was done. Not quite under the holder for the blinds was rot and mildew so we now have to resand and paint this wall.

I now know why they build a road and then dig it up, build it again and dig it up. They really dont know any better. And this is supposed to be quite a professional crew. Hell we have new wood guys today because the guys here before were too lazy to get out of their truck when the filled it up. The kid at the station filled their diesel truck with 95 and the engine blew up. Times like this I want to just get the fuck out of here. Rant over

Been there and bought the t-shirt. AO, you are like me and have lived here for a day or two. But it still drives you crazy don't it?

I am not laughing at you, but merely recalling some of my past construction adventures. The bad part is that I am going to do it again in Phuket with my latest project.

    Hang in there dude!

Hey, don't drag us into it. I've never heard anybody else call a ceiling a roof.

Not sure about a painted work surface for the kid's room computer area. That may get scratched to hell in no time.
