I'm guessing they have a plan to work to.

In the background a glimpse of the old house and my paintwork still holding up 10 years on. At the time a lot of critical 'advice' about me wasting my time with so much preparation, and not buying the cheapest paint . . .

Looks very nice. That style of roof seems to be the in thing at the moment.
If you don't mind can I ask what it cost all up, ball park figure is fine.
    Cheers

That looks great I like the paint scheme too.

I wanted to do something similar but got vetoed by the wife. Sometimes you just have to go along.

    Of only I could!
BiL is local OrBorTor and for family finances it's a need to know basis and I don't need to know; mainly in this build there's been a lot of what I'd call contra work for materials and labour he has a farm contracting business and the unskilled labour for this job has come from his workers' downtime.
The good Ms P's estimate was around 300,000 baht, not including labour.
What I'm interested in is the revenue from the old house; it is to be carefully dismantled, de-nailed and sold off for furniture making.
It's about 60yrs old and was built from milled timber grown onsite, the floor planks run the full width of 9m and at their widest are over .6m across, approx 40mm thick. As hard as hardwood can be, burnt out many a twist drill on the pillars it's un-nailable if that's a word.

Thanks; given the circumstances of the building supervisor (see last post) this may have been built without much of the traditional shoddiness/cost-cutting measures.

I'll be there in October and have a good look around, but appears they've done a decent job.
