7M Baht will see you as the owner of this somewhat ....err.... individual dwelling.
I think he has overdone the wood theme just a touch.
Siam Property
Great work Dougal! Let me see what I can come up with...
Heres an example of missed opportunity.
This house has stood empty for 2 years unsold and for good reason.
The wall you can see on the side elevation used to be solid but during the last few months or so they cut some shaped holes in it.
Behind the wall is dead space.....
Now it got me thinking, to build a wall like that there must be something that they wanted to block out sight of...something ugly...something really hideous. Something so ghastly that no decent Thai national would ever want to look at.
Yes you guessed it! It's a 14 billion baht urban regeneration project to turn inner city wastleand into a nature reserve and parkland. Damn that is ugly!....
A total fuck up, only stupid people could do this.

This one is a bit of an oddity; the sort of thing that might have been inspired by Escher. I think he built it like this so he could get a view of the sea.
I couldn't decide whether I liked this house or not and finally decided that I hate it.
It is on the baech at Kui Buri and probably occupies about 1.5 rai, as you can see all the windows on the 'public' side are roll shutters.
They do get an unrestricted view of the beach, at least not while gawpers like me are wandering around their front garden taking pictures.
The sala on the left is obviously intended for barbies - they clearly don't expect that anyone else will ever use the beach.
I stood on the back of the pick-up to have a nose over the fence at the backyard. The view from the back windows of the big white wall would get a bit boring after a while - maybe they project cinema on it. It does all seem a bit stark and clinical though.
Lord, deliver us from e-mail.
^At least that one has something unique to it, as does the tower-like building with attached terraces.
The first ones you posted are decidedly hideous, these latter ones are more... 'interesting'.
I think that the white one is very stark and they have used the land available very poorly. The back area just looks like a parking lot. For this design to work I think it needs to be in a high location overlooking a valley or something dramatic - the view they have to the front is the sea, but it is a very flat view with nothing to break the monotony.
It is also very public, of course they may have fitted one way glass but I think that only works if you keep the lights turned off. I'd feel like I was living in a goldfish bowl. Again, placing the house in a high position which gave it some privacy would make all the difference.
I think that the three story thing is someones idea of a joke. It looks like they made soemthing with a Lego set and then handed it to a builder to copy.
Well, I do understand your reservations and agree the garage/quick-shoppish white place would look better in a different environment, but the tall building has a certain charm. I'd rather live in that than in some nondescript run of the mill compound house, even if the basic design made more sense and was more proportional...
Thats the new house I bought in Khon kean
Why the odd shapes in the wall? Can I see the house from another angle?Originally Posted by Rigger

Is this more to your taste? A fairly standard Thai house decorated by someone who is colour blind.
Altogether now..
Red and yellow and pink and green
Orange and purple and blue

Build a rainbow.....
Yikes... but the worst thing is that I asked the missus about it and she said she liked it.
... i'm no longer sure she will be in charge of our building projects in Thailand.
^ sorry i forgot to add the sarcasm smiley. The park is lovely!
The trend seems to be to want their parks and gardens to look as much like a 3D rendering as possible. Including the squareness and pixellation.
I'm concidering going into the paint business but only sell pink , yellow and baby blue paint.
Well, I compare it to the barren wasteland covered with concrete rubble and garbage blowing around that passes for Thailand most of the time and it does then seem lovelyOriginally Posted by Whiteshiva
This wouldn't have looked so bad if all the perimeter wall and steel work hadn't been done in the same color scheme.
