You should bring your idea of wants to our design competition thread, for the #3 that is. The #2 is already closed.
It should be fun for us there.

I might do when the next one comes up Mooncake. At the moment I'm busy preparing for the imminent arrival of my mother who is coming from the U.K. to stay for a month. I am also following Somtamslaps thread with interest to see if he can bring his house build in on budget. Thanks for the invite though
I'll post some pictures of our plot though.
The next one will be in January......so be prepared
hmm....u might have to be in a cat fight with JJ-jandajoy first
O.k. I'll be ready by then. In the meantime here are some pictures of the plot :
Luckily for us a concrete road was just recently laid down connecting our road to the main road, 500 metres in the opposite direction. Continuing this way just leads to rice fields.
This is the plot next to ours which also runs to the fence line. Our plot is 5 x 20 dtarangwa ..... 100 square. The adjacent plots are owned by the girlfriends sisters. This is about 500 metres from the main road and a further 1 k to the sahm yaek Wichien Buri. They are talking about building a Tescos there which would be handy because as it is now the nearest big store is in Petchaboon town a 1 hours drive away.
Before you get too excited check water & power prices to the landdancing girl has nothing to do with the thread but i like it
My wife is from Wichenburi, she owns land there that we will some day build on too. In 15+ years or so. It's about 10 rai of land just a little past Wat Prachanimit. Perhaps some day we'll be neighbors.
Fifteen years + !! Wow, now thats what I call thinking ahead. We've sort of decided to go for a one bedroom bungalow like this :
But its on hold for now as we are looking to get a slightly bigger place in Bangkok first and see how much we have left over. Doesn't help with the pound falling to 49 baht
My wife wants 3 bedrooms. I am working on some plans for a 2 levels, 1st will only have a thai kitchen bathroom and sitting area. Living on the second. I have lots of time to design it though.
Hey, I read some of your posts. Perhaps I'll post my design and let you take a crack at it too.
Deris,
you have the space so better idea would be an outside Thai kitchen, trust me sometimes the smell is not so good and lingers..especially when the pla ra (sp?) comes out
An option could be a home made from (used) containers or a prefab home.
This Bangkok-based architectural bureau has some interesting ideas:
- MDL 5.5X6 A Site-Specific Experiment
- R-2ื20 A Site-Specific Experiment, for sale now for THB 350'000 plus moving costs
Interesting link.......thanks.
Living in a ' container ' might be a bit too avant garde for most people but if the price was right and the girlfriend was willing ( unlikely ) then who knows ? 350,000 a bit too steep in my opinion considering what you could build using conventional materials and workmen.

Oops, my bad. Bouncing around to much... Looks like a cozy place. One thing I noticed, most of the plans don't have much storage space. I think I'd need a storade\work room because I'm a pack rat. The good thing is I'm not attached to my junk and throw a lot of it away after a few years just so I can start collecting again...Originally Posted by Bangyai

very nice thread, thank you for the read, good luck
Thanks Norbo for providing the link. I just had a look in there again for the first time in months and they have some new stuff like this :
They didn't have much small stuff before. Maybe there is less money about so they are offering smaller plans . Here's another.
And something a bit different but very hot with the flat roof :
thanxs for this link
