reptiles would be a concern of mine swimming in a pond in this part of the world. snakes and snapping turtles that is. but then again when I scuba, I'm always looking out of the corner of my goggles for Jaws also. 555!

..seems to me if you have the available land space this is the best option...low mtce and ya don't feel guilty about not using it for swimming and can go fishing with a beer in hand
..have a gully on our land which I have been meaning to dam for years to make a swimming hole , fish pond, should get flushed reasonably well in the wet..
...wondered about leeches and bitey/stingy things in tropical water though.

Even 12 metres is not great for laps. Time you push off you are at the other end!! Thought of a swim trainer? Not too expensive. I had two quotes recently for 10x4m with quality filters etc, a little spa area with jets. Price around 750k

I think 12 is fine unless your wanting to progress as a swimming enthusiast, or are you saying your 10 meters long?
I found fibreglass pools for 335,000 10x4m, raised decking and bbq for when you get out!
Swimming trainer is ok, but why not go whole hog and get a surfing wave? You can go to the sea for swin training! Fibreglass seems the better option for longevity.

I have bought one of those bungee cord strap round your ankle swim thingies

you just tie it to the rails at one end and keep swimming in the same place; great for exercise although the actual swimming esperience is not perfect

My Pool is 10 x 4 x 2 stripped out the tiles two years ago and had it re-done in Terazzo which is a highly polished stone looks a million $ an so easy to clean no more dirty grout guy who did it charged me just under 300,000 bht but that is a lot of pool 75,000 ltr. have just replaced pump with a Viron P 300 3 speed brushless super quiet and energy saving uses 50% KW than my old unit spent hours on forums reading all good/negative comments b4 buying the pump my pool water is now so clear compered to when the old pump was in use

Be very careful about who you get to do the work Ben.

I ordered one, paid the deposit and heard horrible stories about them popping out of the ground and cracking. The project is now dead and buried.

The guy who was going to do the work (a farang contractor) also distanced himself from the product because of the problems he was having.

no, all good

there are snakes but they keep well away if they hear anyone near

the fish are the usual suspects, Tilapia, Ruby, Snakehead and those fish that eat other fish...? a few frogs, ducks etc

glad to hear that, but that would not be due to the pump unless you were not using the old pump long enough

it is the filter and chemical balance that makes the water clear, the pump merely moves the water
