    Broken Pooper.

    Got the call last night.

    Me pooper is broken. :/

Checked it out this morning, and with much prodding, poking and up close photography, I had to agree that it was definitely crocked.

Some sleuthing resulted in the ID: American Standard TF-4793

The tenants seems okay, given that they can't flush the toilet and it doesn't hold any water, but might as well get it sorted.

    Issues:

Doesn't hold any water, it immediately flows down into the bowl.

The flushing mechanism - 2 fancy-dancy buttons on top for half flush and full flush are about as useful as Man City in the 90th minute of a semifinal.

    Diagnoses:

    Foked.

Will moonwalk over to Homepro after me morning massage and see wot's wot.

    Q:

I only want the top part that holds the water, not the entire unit that's attached to the floor. Can only buy that part at main stores, or are forced to buy an entire new shitter?

homepro come and install it, right? Something like a 500-1000 charge if it's under 5k baht or something?

If the TF-4793 is out of production, do all toilets have the same mounting dimensions? It's connected to the bowl part by two big bolts, these are the same distance apart on all toilets or do they completely poop you over by different models not being interchangeable?

Take it off and glue it Lulu or

You could just fork out the 2-3k for a whole new unit

The flush mechanism can usually be replaced with a generic one, you only need to replace the inners not the whole cistern (top half).

Got the same/similar issue. Our en suite, the stem of the floating water inlet cut off valve is broken, hence water continually overflows into the bowl (but it doesn't as the supply to the toilet is closed. M'Sahib is on the case.

A quick lazada google 200 to 400 thb. Homepro or some such will be about 2x that. You want the dual flush mechanism for google on your phone to point at when talking to goofy in the shop.

This one, it just flows straight down without getting the chance to fill-up and overflow.

    Should have taken more photos.

The stem and valve that control the water flowing down are a different part to the top-mounted flushing mechanism, or does a generic part cover the whole shebang?

Lulu something new everyday: Apparently yankies call the cistern a 'toilet tank', the uncouth lardballs.

Cisterns are not usually interchangeable, so stick to buying the same model.

Plumbers can usually change it in 1-2 hours.

    1-2 hours???

If the cistern separates, its ususal attched by two bolts and a rubber gasket with a water inlet on the bottom. I have replaced a toilet bowl, cistern and fitted the flush mechanism in under 45 minutes.

The flush mechanism went on one of mine a year ago and after picking up a generic one from toolstation i fitted it in about 15 minutes.

    That's the Lulu.

Will do a Jeffry of Homepro and local toilet shops after lunch. Prolly easier to just buy the whole cistern with the mechanism in it, than fluff about with a new flushing system that might not fit etc. I presume a new cistern of the same model is pretty much plug n play.

Not sure you'll get a separate cistern but good luck.

Probably not, cisterns aren't usually sold separately.

The DIY stores all have the replacement units. I haven't had to do it yet but it must be a common enough problem. Even Lotuthith sells them, IIRC.

Or you can follow the Shutree approach and get a bloke to do it. Shouldn't be expensive. Being a clumsy bloke with any sharp tools, I'm happier to be short a few hundred Baht than short a couple of fingers.

Lovely hand demonstration of where to hold, pull, squeeze and retract the forecasing on the shaft.

No idea if it will fit or not, but we had a bit of a laugh and got her Line under the pretext of calling for help if needed. So hopefully will be interested in a nice evening rooftop swim. 715thb well spent.

A door needs to be rehung and a table could do with sanding, so hopefully she can do those before taking in the sunset.

Why go through all that trouble and expense, Lu?
A nice bucket aside the commode works nicely - and every time.

    Problems resolved.
